LIVING IN THE END TIMES:
Part 2 – SATAN KNOWS SCRIPTURE
More Deception in the End Times
In which this writer continues from the thoughts and observations offered in Part 1.
Some observations about the times in which we live: some taken from recent discussions, emails and conversations; some from Scripture; and, some taken from random and sundry claims put forth by teachers, both real and false.
1- Either one believes the Bible or one believes what others claim the Bible says; consequently, one either believes we are living in the end times or one doesn’t.
This is repeated from Part 1, but it is a very important point. It provides the reader with their entire frame of reference for receiving the information which follows.
2- If one is a non-believer, then one doesn’t believe the Bible. Actually, a great many who profess Christ don’t believe the Bible. These “Christians”–trusting more in the deceptions of the arch-deceiver who works through the words of scientists, philosophers and the world–have relegated Scripture to a “series of moral lessons” or “a history of a tribal god written by men” or “a collection of great thoughts.”
Unfortunately, while such ideas may earn them a temporary truce with the world, it earns them the scorn of the God they think they follow.
“The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. “
“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
A non-believer may or may not believe we are living in the end times. However, a great many non-believers do see that the effects from the forces of chaos, which are being harnessed by those who desire to rule the earth.
3- Satan knows Scripture. Satan is an ultra-intelligent, powerful entity. He knows God’s Word better than 99 percent of professing Christians. He has to be intimately acquainted with Scripture in order to effectively twist it to deceive. Satan also knows the time left to him is short.
So, he’s pulling out all of the stops–and so are those who serve him, both knowingly and unknowingly.
NOTE TO NON-BELIEVERS: Putting one’s head in the sand and denying reality (Satan, hell, that runaway train bearing down on you, etc.) does not mean that one has control over that reality. It only means that one will be blissful–as in “Ignorance is bliss“–until the last moment. And the Bible says that is exactly what will happen at the end.
“But as the days of Noe [Noah] were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
Even non-believers know that guy or girl who “knows it all.” They bury their head in the sand, pretend that what is taking place around them is not taking place–all the while they substitute swearing and a healthy dose of attitude for knowledge.
Such a person shouts at those who see what is approaching, insisting that they do not see and calling everyone who has not buried their heads in the sand “Stupid” or “Crazy” or whatever. The closer the denied events come to the denier, he louder he shouts, the more he swears, the more he supplies vehemence instead of an answer.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
—2 Peter 3:3-4
4- It is imperative that Christians not only know their Bible, but understand what it says. Satan twists Scripture–as do his servants, many who have been given a prominent place by the Christian mass media–to deceive. If Christians study what the Bible says, it is much harder to be deceived.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
—2 Timothy 2:15
Alas, study of the Bible is a dying practice.
Listening to what someone else claims the Bible says is easier.
5- Part of Satan’s great deception will be false teachers, prophets, and wolves seeking to lead Christians astray. They will also be busy making sure the lost stay lost. Some do it for money; some do it because they are deceived; some do it for fame and recognition. Their motivation does not matter. The Bible warned of their coming and warned that they would masquerade as Christian preachers.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
—2 Corinthians 11:13-15
These false preachers will look like Christians. They will sound like Christians. They will have “Christian” on the covers of their books. They will broadcast on “Christian” networks.
But Jesus will not know them. Neither will Jesus know those who follow these false teachers and prophets.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Basically, Jesus is saying “If you don’t walk the walk, it doesn’t matter if you talk the talk.”
“Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.”
“When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.”
These false teachers will look and sound so much like real Christians that many who call themselves “Christians” will be deceived. True believers will not be deceived however.
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
6- Satan will use any means possible to deceive people. To fool the Christian, he will use the mouth of those pretending to be Christians. To deceive the non-believer, he will use the mouth of the college professor, the scientist, the cult leader, the government officials: anyone who has any worldly authority with the lost, Satan will use.
If one doesn’t think he is able to be deceived or too smart or wise or anointed to be deceived, one is already deceived.
7- The deception will continue right up until the very end. The Bible tells us that even when Satan’s kingdom is beginning to fall apart, the arch-deceiver is still working deception.
“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
It’s later than you think.
And if one is a Christian who has been beguiled by the teachings of the Modern American Prophecy Industry and Christian mass media, then it is really, truly, no kidding later than you think.
“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”
