Forget Universal Pre-School, We need a 13th grade – Correction: we need neither.  If the USA was really interested in better education, it would invalidate all of the attacks on education masquerading as “improvements” it has instituted over the last 40 years.  And if the USA was really interested in more jobs and more business, it would invalidate the attacks on small business it has instituted over the last 25 years.  But it isn’t–and so things will continue along their merry way.

The Curse of Friendly Fire – Although friendly fire narratives usually have a LOT of problems surrounding them, they claim to explain why so many who wear the uniform of the USA get gunned down by their fellow soldiers. In many battles, more Americans are killed by Americans than by the enemy.  Remember the Vietnam War and all of the media stories of fragging?  According to media reports, between 300-400 officers died in 1970-71 due to attacks by their own men

Armed and Dead – Kathleen Parker has always been presented as the “thinking conservative”–which means that she has never been conservative at all.  She is widely-syndicated though it is hard to find anyone, anywhere over the last 15 years who likes her writing or her politics. She is what is known as a “media fixture.”

Parker’s main purpose comes from her constant acceptance of even the most outrageous liberal/progressive ideas. When she does this in her trademark, “Aw, shucks, I’m just a country girl at heart lost in this big ol’ city” way, it signals that other media stooges will start writing that conservatives have now accepted [insert: gay marriage, incest, higher taxes, gun confiscation, etc.].  Because of her supine usefulness, Parker has been showered with Corporate Media awards–and conservative invective–over the last 10 years.  She demonstrated her popularity briefly on her own talk show on CNN but was gone several months later because no one would watch her.

…and just like that, politics can suck a writer back.

THE ASSAULT ON THE GOSPEL

THE ASSAULT ON THE SUFFICIENCY OF THE GOSPEL HAS BEGUN
THE ASSAULT ON THE SUFFICIENCY OF THE GOSPEL HAS BEGUN

This is not Discipleship – Apparently the church has a problem with too many people preaching the gospel alone. Who knew?

The assault on the sufficiency of preaching the gospel has begun in earnest.

The Great Commission calls for making disciples rather than preaching the Gospel. (The same command in Mark 16:15 says “…preach the gospel….”) It is probably for this reason most Christians assume incorrectly that preaching the Gospel fulfills the Matthew 28:18-20, but it does not. Preaching the Gospel and making disciples are two entirely different (though related) things. Billy Graham, and others, have illustrated very well that there is a huge difference between these two ideas. Preaching the Gospel is relatively easy, and skilled evangelists can bring many to the altar through a single 30-minute sermon. But that is only the first step of many, and on its own does not fulfill the Great Commission at all.

This article makes the claim that preaching the gospel alone is disobedience. Of course, “disciple” means “to teach” and presenting the gospel is the height of teaching the lost.   And there are a number of admonitions to those who would presume to teach otherwise including James 3:1 and 1 Corinthians 12:29.   There are no admonitions to preaching the gospel.

So while preaching the Gospel is commanded and is vital, it is NOT discipleship and does not obey the Great Commission.

This assault on the gospel appears coordinated as this is at least the third article this writer has seen over the last couple of weeks on this topic.  Up until now, the articles have portrayed their message as “The gospel is not enough. We have to do more.”  Which introduced the idea that the gospel was insufficient.  This latest article by Anton Bosch ratchets up the stakes by declaring preaching the gospel alone “does not obey the Great Commission.”

This thinking sets Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:19 directly in opposition to each other.  Which may also explain the number of articles over the last several years attacking the validity of the Great Commission in Mark.  In fact, the NIV already has eliminated Mark 16:8-20 including the Great Commission, relegating it to the footnotes in that inimitable “Hath God said?” NIV trademark way.

Events are moving at a very fast pace now.  As someone put it yesterday to this writer, “It’s getting lonely out here.”

It is indeed getting lonely. True believers are about to learn just how lonely very soon.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
-–1 Corinthians 15:1-8 – (h/t:B)

MEDIA NARRATIVES ALERT

“How can the reader know when the Corporate Media is lying to him (never mind the fact that the media is Satan’s Mouthpiece and Satan is the father of lies)?  One easy way to tell is the use of “Why” and “How” in the headlines of an article.  When the reader sees “Why?” or “How?” in the headline, what follows will be a fairy tale, a narrative, a bedtime story spun by the media for the benefit of the media’s master.”  “Why” usually denotes an on-going narrative; “How” signifies a story line which explains past events.
