Outsourcing Discernment: The Hegelian Dialectic and Discernment Inc

OUTSOURCING DISCERNMENT

As we draw nearer to the climax of end times events, more and more agents of the enemy reveal themselves.  A great many of these agents pretend to be Christians. This includes the facades known as “Christian discernment ministries.”

An example follows.

The Hegelian Dialectic – The link leads to an article found on a “discernment ministry” website about the Hegelian dialectic.  It’s a good example of slyly weaving lies with truth to create lies.  One usual recipe is 5 parts truth, 1 part lie.  This recipe for deception is equally effective for both Satan and the creators of propaganda.

Under the guise of “exposing” the Hegelian Dialectic, the article mixes in lies with the truth.

An example.

If the ideas, interpretations of experiences, and the sources are all wrong, can a conclusion based on all these wrong premises be sound? The answer is no. Two false premises do not make a sound conclusion even if the argument follows the formula. Three, four, five, or six false premises do not all combine to make a conclusion sound. You must have at least one sound premise to reach a sound conclusion.

This is a bald-faced lie.

It doesn’t matter how many sound premises one starts with: if one of the premises are wrong, the conclusion will be wrong.  And since the authors switched from dialectic to logic (Notice that? Dialectic only has two “premises” thesis and antithesis; logic can employ more than two.), this is easy to demonstrate.

Example:

CORRECT

Premise (true): All ducks are yellow.

Premise (true) : George is a duck.

Conclusion (true): George is yellow.

INCORRECT

Premise (true) All ducks are yellow.

Premise (false) George is purple.

Conclusion (false) George is a duck.

THE AUTHORS’ FORMULA

Premise (true) Jesus is the Son of God.

Premise (true) Jesus was fully human

Premise (true) Jesus was fully divine.

Premise (true) You are fully human.

Premise (false) You and Jesus are the same.

Conclusion (false) You are divine, just like Jesus, the Son of God.

Four true premises and one false one equals a false one (a lie).

This can be further simplified into an easy-to-remember equation: Truth + Error = Error.  It doesn’t matter how much doctrinal truth is in a teaching.  If there is doctrinal error as well, the teaching will be doctrinally wrong.

One more example from the linked article.

The Hegelian dialectic is the ridiculous idea that constant conflict and continual merging of opposite ideologies, as established by extreme right or left belief systems, will lead spiritual mankind into final perfection. (Americans understood man’s spiritual quests to be outside the realm of government control).

“Man’s spiritual quests” is a fairly ambiguous term.  It can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.  However, since the subject is political systems, we can suppose it to be shorthand for “legislating goodness (or morality).  At any rate, Americans did not understand “man’s spiritual quests” to be outside government control.  How  are laws against abortion, adultery, gambling, prostitution to be otherwise understood?  At one time, all were illegal everywhere in America.

The present lawlessness of America is the logical result of its founders, their vision and the system they installed. At every turn, a small minority of lawless individuals, using the American court system, has overturned millennia of civilizational norms.

This article on Hegel reminds this writer of another “discernment ministry” which “exposed” the Hegelian dialectic, yet in another article by the same author quoted Hegel favorably!

Conclusion?  There are two.

ONE – As fewer and fewer of the pew-sitters in American churches are genuinely saved, there is less and less discernment.  Therefore, since so few have the “discernment” promised to true believers,  it has become necessary to outsource this task to the “discernment ministries.”  These sprung up like fungus after a rain beginning in the mid-90s.

Again, as the end time climax nears, more and more of these agents of the enemy will have to reveal themselves in order to accomplish their true goals.

TWO – Beware of “discernment ministries.”

Almost all of them are wolves in sheep’s clothing.  For the most part, they are the blind catering to the blind. In some cases, they are deceivers deceiving and being deceived. The website this article originally came from features a large eye on its homepage. Words mean things.  Symbols mean things too.

Because this is not the first offense, beware of this particular “discernment ministry.” Crossroads by Berit Kjos.

One day we shall know all.

And in that day, we will likely discover that many of the so-called “men and women of God” were agents of the enemy.

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
Matthew 24:11
