SECRET HISTORY: Originally, secret histories were designed as non-fictional, revealing or claiming to reveal the truth behind the “spin”: one such example is the Secret History of the Mongols. Secret histories can range from standard historical revisionism with proper critical reexamination of historical facts to negative historical revisionism wherein facts are deliberately omitted, suppressed or distorted.

81 – Domitian becomes Emperor of the Roman Empire upon the death of his brother Titus. Under Titus, the Roman legions destroyed the city of Jerusalem and began the worldwide diaspora of the Jews. One of the worst of the Roman persecutions of Christians was under Domitian’s rule.
326 – Helena of Constantinople discovers the True Cross and the Holy Sepulchre (Jesus‘s tomb) in Jerusalem. Whether this tale is true or not makes no difference to true Christians, as true believers do not revere or worship icons.
1791 – The Papal States lose Avignon to the French Empire. This signals the pope’s coming loss of temporal power (which continued until 1929 when Vatican City was handed to the pope by treaty with Mussolini).
1847 – Mexican–American War: American troops captures Mexico City. America secures much of what will become the American southwest as an outcome of this war.
1901 – President of the United States William McKinley dies after an assassination attempt on September 6, and is succeeded by Theodore Roosevelt. Assassination has been a favorite tool of the mystery of iniquity.
1940 – Ip massacre: The Hungarian Army, supported by local Hungarians, kill 158 Romanian civilians in Ip, Sălaj, a village in Northern Transylvania, as part of attempts to ethnic cleansing.
1960 – Congo Crisis: With CIA help, Mobutu Sese Seko seizes power in a military coup, suspending parliament and the constitution.
1979 – Afghan President Nur Muhammad Taraki is assassinated upon the order of Hafizullah Amin, who becomes the new president.
1982 – President-elect of Lebanon, Bachir Gemayel, is assassinated.
