“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:”
—1 Peter 1:24
Devil’s Greatest Trick
There’s been a great deal of speculation as to what the devil’s greatest trick might be.
One says the devil’s greatest trick is “persuading you he doesn’t exist.”
Another claims Satan’s greatest trick was “convincing you you have all the time in the world.”
For about 20 percent of the world’s population, the devil’s greatest trick has been to convince them that life is one big “do-over;” that it doesn’t matter if one makes bad choices in this life because there’s endless chances to get it right.
Another trick the devil has played is deceiving humans into believing they are divine: that created, finite humans are infinite gods. A great many who claim to be “Christians” have proclaimed the heinous lie “We are little “g” gods.” One other trick: there is more than one way to heaven.
It should be apparent that Satan has a whole bag of deceiving tricks. He is super clever and infernally intelligent. He is more than a match for the smartest human operating in his own wisdom and knowledge.
One of Satan’s greatest tricks is one that doesn’t get much attention. That trick is being played every day all over the world–but nowhere is this trick being played more than in the USA. This trick is constantly reinforced by the news we watch, the advertisements and music we listen to and the magazines, books and papers we read.
The trick?
That this life is anything more than just a temporary vapor.
That this present world is permanent; that it means something.
This Life is a Vapor
“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
—James 4:14
The Bible offers at least a dozen verses testifying to the very illusionary, temporary nature of this life; that this life is but a “probationary period” to determine where each person will spend eternity.
This theme has never wavered over both the old and new testament (a period covering 4000 years). This present life is fleeting. It means nothing if it is not dedicated to obedience to God Almighty.
“Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?”
—Psalm 89:47
Satan’s job is to deceive the world about the nature of existence; to provide more “meaning” and substance to this most fragile of time periods. To this end, he employs the Corporate Media, which is Satan’s Mouthpiece.
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week: the devil is indoctrinating the world about how very important this world is; how this world might be destroyed by man (the height of arrogance); how important it is to be comfortable and rich in this life; about how “Live for the moment!” should be the credo by which one lives.
The media’s job is to deceive humans into believing that this life is the most important thing–ever.
“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?”
—Ecclesiastes 1:2-3
“My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass.”
—Psalm 102:11
Satan greatly desires that humans concentrate on the here-and-now. The advertising world spends billions of dollars convincing consumers that they should buy such-and-such product–and forget about how they will pay for it. That’s tomorrow; what’s important is today.
The appeal is to NOW! : to the temporary pleasure one will enjoy from owning the advertised product. The appeal is to enjoy life now by every sense possible. Touch, look, feel, smell, taste: do it now, just do it.
“for the things which are seen are temporal [temporary]; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
—2 Corinthians 4:18
Politicians prattle on about their “legacy.” About how the world will remember them–as if this world were going to be here forever and such a thing as the world’s collective memory even exists.
What the world thinks about you, what the world believes about you, the respect and honor of the the world: that’s the coin the devil deceptively uses to get humans to concentrate on this most temporary of times.
Instead of preparing for their eternal destination.
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
—1 John 2:17
10 Bible Verses
This life is a very, very temporary state of affairs. As the Bible cautions: it is fleeting, it is temporary and it is as grass: here for a season and then it’s over and done.
Collected are ten Bible verses to keep in mind the next time the reader is weighed down with the concerns of this world; the next time the constant drone of Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) has him convinced that this world is all there is and the highest calling in life is to “live this life.”
Ten verses which equal thousands of years of collected wisdom via the Word of God. Against this, Satan arrays what we see on TV, smartphones, computer screens and what we read and hear. But the devil’s deceptions play every day, all day.
They emphasize NOW!
10 Bible verses about the temporary nature of this present life and world.
“For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.”
—Psalm 102:3
“All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:”
—Isaiah 40:6
“Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.”
—Psalm 144:4
“He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.”
—Job 14:2
“For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.”
—Psalm 78:39
“O remember that my life is wind:”
—Job 7:7
“For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.”
—1 Chronicles 29:15
“(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)”
—Job 8:9
“O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!”
—Psalm 39:4
“But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.”
—James 1:10-11
Finally, one last Bible verse which perfectly demonstrates the nature of this present life.
“All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.”
—Ecclesiastes 3:20
Have you secured your eternal destination?
