WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT A MAN’S HEART?
At every turn, those who pretend to be Christians give themselves away.
How many times have those who claim to be shepherds appealed to the virtue of their own hearts?
How many times have supposed men of God said “The Lord knows my heart”?
Yes, He does.
And there are many Bible verses which inform the believer what the Lord knows of a man’s heart.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
Jesus was even more detailed about the condition of man’s heart.
” For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
Man’s heart is so abominably wicked, a man cannot know his own heart.
“He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool:“
Man’s heart is wicked. EVERY man’s heart is wicked.
“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
The evil in men’s hearts has been a problem mankind since the very beginning. Evil hearts was the reason that God sent the flood.
“The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
The only power to counter man’s naturally wicked heart is Jesus Christ.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
—2 Corinthians 5:17
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
So if a man appeals to his own heart, be suspicious.
IF that man instead points to Jesus Christ living within him, then he is correct.
Are you sure?
Your eternity depends on it.
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
