What the Holy Spirit is NOT: End Times Confusion in the Churches

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT

In these times in which we live, there is a great deal of confusion about the Holy Spirit. As can be expected, much of this confusion comes from that end times den of apostasy: the churches.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity.

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
1 John 5:7

The Holy Spirit guides believers into all truth.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 16:13

There are any number of studies on what the Holy Spirit IS.

The danger today is that many in the churches believe the Holy Spirit to be something which He is not.

There are a number of false prophets, false teachers, wolves in sheep’s clothing and hirelings in the pulpits misleading those people under their care about the Holy Spirit. Here’s are a few things the Holy Spirit IS NOT.

  1. The Holy Spirit is not a force.
  2. The Holy Spirit is not a feeling.
  3. The Holy Spirit is not for the amusement of pew-sitters.
  4. The Holy Spirit will not testify of anything or anyone but Jesus.
  5. The Holy Spirit is not a Spirit of confusion.

1- The Holy Spirit is not a force. This is something to keep in mind especially in these last days when Hollywood is indoctrinating millions with occult tales of The Force. There is a reason for that.

The apostate churches treat the Holy Spirit as a force; as something which visits the church to perform a show for the pew-sitters. The Holy Spirit is in every believer at the moment of conversion.  The reason the Holy Spirit is absent in most of the churches is that none of the apostates are real Christians.

Because they are not saved, they have no Holy Spirit.  Because they have no Holy Spirit, they have no discernment.  Because they have no discernment, the apostates often mistake other spirits in the churches for the Holy Spirit.

It is to these other spirits that many churches lift up their hands and voices.  It is a form of idolatry.

COUNTERFEIT HOLY SPIRIT: Lying Spirits of Deception in the Churches

2- The Holy Spirit is not a feeling. Those in the apostate churches have been taught that the Holy Spirit shows up and performs tricks.  Some wolves in the pulpit have likened the Holy Spirit to a “genie.” This has prepared the apostate pew-sitters to accept other spirits posing as the Holy Spirit.

The apostates feel the hair stand up on their arms–what some have described as “a feeling like electricity“–they feel excitement and they have been taught that these physical signs are signs of the Holy Spirit.

They associate the Holy Spirit with feelings; with emotions. Instead of walking by faith and leaning on God’s Word, they walk by sight and lean on their feelings and emotions. (Curiously, the Star Wars movies teach to “Let go. Use your feelings.” when dealing with their Force.)

3- The Holy Spirit is not for the amusement of pew-sitters. Because so many have been taught that signs and wonders and supernatural power is normally from the Holy Spirit, they are easily deceived when such displays take place. Power deceives and many believe that all supernatural displays come from God.

The Bible warns that Satan will utilize many “signs and lying wonders” and “miracles” in his attempts to deceive those sitting in the end times churches.

Because many apostates have convinced themselves that their will is God’s Will–instead of making God’s Will their will–they are deceived by these supernatural displays of power. Some churches have become little more than centers for occult worship, with the participants celebrating demonic power as evidence of “the Holy Spirit.”

Seducing Spirits in the Church: The Supernatural Fan Club

4- The Holy Spirit will not testify of anything or anyone but Jesus. Many apostate churches believe the Holy Spirit talks of Himself. They believe the seducing spirits instead of the Bible.

“He[the Holy Spirit] shall glorify me [Jesus]: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”
John 16:14

The Holy Spirit will point to nothing else except Jesus Christ. Any spirit which points to ANYTHING or ANYONE else is a deceiving spirit.

5- The Holy Spirit is not a Spirit of confusion. The Holy Spirit will not circumvent the Word of God.  The Holy Spirit will not point the way to another Jesus.  The Holy Spirit does as He will, not the will of the congregation.

The Holy Spirit will not cause confusion. The Holy Spirit will empower God’s people to do His Will, not the will of men.

End times deception is bad–it is especially bad in the churches. But Christians are assures end times deception will get worse.

Much of the end times deception will center around substituting other deceiving, lying spirits for the Holy Spirit.

“Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
