“For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.”
—1 Chronicles 29:15
so·journ noun \ˈsō-ˌjərn, sō-ˈ\
:a period of time when you stay in a place as a traveler or guest
Christians are to be sojourners, pilgrims, travelers, strangers on this earth: the Bible is clear. True believers are not to get too comfortable in this world. This world is under the dominion of the “prince of this world”: Satan.
“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
—John 12:31
UPDATE: Satan is NOT the God of this World
The Christian’s life is but a shadow. As such, Christians are not to abide in this world; their world awaits them later. There is nothing in this world which merits a second thought.
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”
—1 Peter 2:11
However, this is not the message from the churches in America. The messages from the churches are all about “Living your best life now!” or “Making this country (world) a better place.”
These messages are false. There’s no need to make this world a better place. There’s no need to concentrate on this world: that’s the message of Satan.
Christians are just “passing through” on their way to a better place.
“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”
—Hebrews 11:13
Christians are to be strangers. Christians are to be pilgrims. Christians are to be sojourners. God is looking for those who walk by faith; not those who walk by sight.
Faith No Longer Needed in American Church: The Sight-Walkers
“The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.”
—Psalm 146:9
The message of the TV preacher and increasingly of the churches is: God wants to bless you! God wants to make you rich! God wants you to be “healthy, wealthy and wise!” God wants you to be happy, fat and sassy!
God’s Word does not contain this message. God’s Word is completely different from the word coming from the wolves and hirelings.
Yes, God loves you. But God wants believers to focus on what they cannot see, not this present life or the things of this world. Christians are just passing through.
This is the message of God’s Word to true believers.
“The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.”
—Leviticus 25:23
Jesus is the perfect role model for Christians. Jesus didn’t have a house. Jesus didn’t have a double-wide. Jesus didn’t even have a travel trailer.
Jesus was just “passing through” on His way to the Father.
“And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”
—Luke 9:58
Those who inhabit the churches have been indoctrinated; they believe that God’s Word tells them: “Let the good times roll!” God’s Word repeatedly calls for the Christian to separate himself from this world, not make peace with it.
Separating from the World: END TIMES SURVIVAL
“And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying, I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”
—Genesis 24:4-5
Do you believe you are a Christian? Are you following God’s Word?
Are you “peculiar”? The Bible says Christians are to be a peculiar people; a people that doesn’t fit in with the world. A people that stands out from the world.
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
Have you made peace with the world? Are you separate from the world?
Or are you following the wolves and hirelings who have infested the pulpits of the churches? Are you praying for God to bless you in this life? Does your prayer time with God concern this life or the next?
Are you a stranger; a pilgrim; a sojourner? Are you just “passing through”?
A time of choosing is almost upon us.
Will you stand up for Jesus? Or will you jump and shout for the man of sin? The choice is yours–and the choice will have to be made sooner than you think.
“Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.”
—Psalm 39:12
