IS IGNORANCE BLISS?
Many people insist they want to know the truth? But will the truth make them happy?
“Ignorance is bliss” is something the world says.
But unlike most of what the world says, there is a Biblical equivalent.
“For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.”
Something to keep in mind before the reader casually prays for wisdom. God promises to give wisdom to all who ask. So he who prays for wisdom in all sincerity will be rewarded with wisdom and knowledge.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
However, with wisdom and knowledge comes the realization that the happy happy joy joy world which has been pulled over your eyes is a totally fictitious one.
And that realization will bring much sadness and grief.
People one once thought of as friends will be revealed for what they really are. Acquaintances one once thought were Christians will be exposed. “Facts” one was convinced one knew are shown to be lies. The evidence that we live in a fallen, rotten, corrupt world will everywhere be revealed.
God’s Word will be shown to be hard and true; not just some helpful, poetic thoughts.
Again, the realization that the world has successfully duped you for years will bring much sadness and grief.
Just as the Bible states.
