During some recent travels, this writer happened upon two different versions of the American flag over the last week. The flags were flying at two different locations within four or five miles from each other.
An attempt to match them with lookalikes on the Internet didn’t yield much success.
Perhaps the reader can shed some light on what these two hybrid American flags are about? Are these common throughout the USA? Do they represent anything in particular? What might that be?
Or is it just the time of the season for something unusual?
POLL: Rubio leads GOP field – This is the time of the political season when the Corporate Media labors long and hard to convince readers that also-rans are serious heavyweight contenders. This is done in order to fool readers into believing that they are being given a choice.
“there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
The disastrous Clinton post-presidency – An article which serves as a gentle apologia for the huge hauls of cash raked in by the former First Couple. Between the two, the Clinton’s raise over half a billion dollars/year. And what are they selling? The same thing any ex-president or ex-government official promises.
Access to power.
However, before the Clinton’s, there was usually some discretion involved over the sheer weight of cash extracted from foreign nationals. (Jimmy Carter being the previous exception when it came to the Arab countries.)
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-4 – (h/t:B)
The Village turns against free-range parenting – What is today termed “free range parenting” was not unknown 50 years ago. However at that time its practitioners–because they let their kids roam to be admonished and taken care of by the other, more attentive parents–were known as “bad parents.”
There have always been hucksters selling false hope to desperate people. It’s an American tradition. But Oz is different precisely because he is so smart, well trained, and influential. How are we to react, then, when he offers his show as a platform for Theresa Caputo, a medium who says she can link us with the dead, or Jeffrey Smith, a former yoga instructor whom Oz considers an expert on genetically modified products?
Yet there are those who swear by Dr Oz and insist any criticism is a raw deal for the courageous Doc Oz.
“This week, Dr. Oz will respond to critics who believe he should not be giving medical advice on his show. People will be watching his response closely — especially Dr. Phil.”
WHO IS THE READER TO BELIEVE?
“We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we’re not alone.”
— Orson Welles
“We also have Dr. Phil tonight. Dr. Phil once said that no matter how flat you make a pancake, it’s still got two sides. So not only does Dr. Phil understand the human condition, he understands breakfast too.”
“How can the reader know when the Corporate Media is lying to him (never mind the fact that the media is Satan’s Mouthpiece and Satan is the father of lies)? One easy way to tell is the use of “Why” and “How” in the headlines of an article. When the reader sees “Why?” or “How?” in the headline–occasionally “What” is used–that which follows will be a fairy tale, a narrative, a bedtime story spun by the media for the benefit of the media’s master. “Why” usually denotes an on-going narrative; “How” signifies a story line which explains past events. Not all narratives begin with “How” or “Why.” However, the most in-your-face, over-the-top ones usually do. ALL political “news” is narrative.
