FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED
While preparing part of a previous piece (Apostasy in the Churches: 10 More Observations), a couple of warnings which God has given believers were included.
The idea that spirits congregate in a place which is used spiritually is not a far-fetched one. IF the Holy Spirit was the only spirit who interacted with believers, God would not have had to issue the following warnings.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
—1 John 4:1“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
—2 Corinthians 11:13-15
This got this writer thinking: What are some other end times warnings given believers?
With that question in mind, here are seven other warnings about the end times given to believers (plus one “bonus” warning).
1- Beware of end times deception.
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
—Matthew 24:4
“And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
—Mark 13:5-6
2- Jesus will not return until two very specific events happen. Jesus is not going to appear “at any moment” as many deceitfully preach.
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;”
—2 Thessalonians 2:3
3. Believers can know the end is near when men mock the return of Jesus.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
—2 Peter 3:3-4
4-Knowledge would increase, but not men’s understanding of God’s Word.
“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
—Daniel 12:4
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
—2 Timothy 3:1,7
5- Don’t get caught up in excesses of living or the cares of this world.
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”
—Luke 21:34
6- Beware of deceivers who claim to be apostles, prophets or anointed (Christs). (This writer might add that those appearing on TV or other mass media have the greatest opportunity to deceive “many.”)
“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.:’
—Mark 13:22
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
—Matthew 24:11
“And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”
—Luke 21:8
7- Believers will be hated by ALL MEN. This includes those residing in the apostate churches.
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.”
—Luke 21:17
BONUS WARNINGS
A- God is going to send all those who do not love the truth a strong delusion. ALL who come under the delusion are damned.
“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
—2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
B- Stay alert always.
“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
—Mark 13:37
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-4
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
