THOSE WHO WORSHIP PROSPERITY WILL HAVE A LOSS OF FAITH WHEN THAT PROSPERITY DESERTS THEM
While driving through some local cities and towns, this writer was struck by several things.
1- Though the government/Corporate Media is constantly telling Americans how good things are, many are not living as good a life financially as their parents or grandparents did.
Many town and small cities are economic Pottersvilles. Pottersville was the town from a It’s a Wonderful Life that was a sin den of iniquity.
While traveling down the main street of one small city, 4 gambling establishments, 3 bars and a restaurant, a car lot, a heating and air conditioning repair shop and a gas station were open for business. In years past, this street had been packed with various small businesses as well as several large manufacturing concerns.
The scene was repeated in each city or town visited.
2- A visual survey of the billboards during the drive revealed very few paying customers (most were Public Service Announcements, while a few were ads sponsored by the advertising company). Of the six paid billboards this writer encountered, three were for banking establishments, two were for strip clubs, one was for a pest control company.
3- When people talk about a city, town or locale, they invariably judge the area by how economically sound it is. Very few areas of the USA are now economically sound.
4- This uncertain economic future is contrary to what Americans are being told via the government, education and the media.
5- Many Americans are very nervous about the country’s future economically–and rightly so.
However, one should keep in mind that the USA was artificially raised up after World War II and over the last 20 years, the same forces have artificially gutted the country’s economy.
6- Over the past 70 years, so many have placed their faith in the US economy to provide them with prosperity, a happy life and a sound future. When that economy fails, those people will suffer a major loss of faith.
They will also be looking around for something else to believe in.
When money is your god, prosperity is a sign of how much your god loves you.
“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon [money].”
—Luke 16:13
To many, many, many in America: Money has been their god–and when the economy fails, their god has forsaken them. This is the perfect set-up for a future leader promising prosperity, peace and safety.
7- Things will continue to get chaotic.
However, the true Christian doesn’t care if his assignment in this life is in Beverly Hills or Pottersville.
There is only one Rock on which to build a foundation: Jesus Christ.
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-4
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
