Abiogenesis: Another Scientific Fable

GENESIS: A story with No proof or evidence.
ABIOGENESIS: A story with No proof or evidence.

“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
2 Timothy 4:4

Abiogenesis, or biopoiesis, is the natural process of life arising from non-living matter, such as simple organic compounds.

Of course there is no proof of abiogenesis EVER occurring. And science has NEVER come close to producing life from non-life in the laboratory.  The best science can do to make this story work is to say that microscopic life might have been deposited on earth by meteorites.

Or aliens.

Or something.

Since earth is the only place in the universe known to have life, one would think that perhaps science might concede the uniqueness of earth.  But that would be the first step toward admitting the Bible is truth.  And modern science exists to cast doubt on the Bible–and little else.

So, abiogenesis is taken seriously in spite of there being no proof, no evidence: in short, nothing but a story.

Still, it is one of those principles upon which modern science has built it’s creed.  The main qualification of abiogenesis is that it contradicts the Bible.  For most, in the times in which we live, that is all the proof needed.

And the Bible?

It clearly states that abiogenesis will be rebuked at the climax of world events.  Written about 2000 years ago:

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
Revelation 14:6-7

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
1 Corinthians 1:18-19

  1. I thought Genesis said the following:

    Genesis 1:24
    New International Version
And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.

How is that not abiogenesis? That verse, and its agreement with science, once brought me to the door of faith. It was being called an idiot by Joyce Myers, for believing the very science that brought me back to the faith, that pushed me right back out the door. I am exceptionally bright, and Christians and Pastors in the Assembly of God Church, as well as the nondenominational Church, said this openly. This confirms my 175 IQ in the area of understanding abstract ideas and how they relate to truth, knowledge, and wisdom, which Solomon taught me to seek.

Had it occurred to you that God might have formed life via abiogenesis, kinds of animals via natural selection (where the Earth plays a crucial role), and then breathed his Holy Spirit into a species of primate to make Adam (literally meaning Man)?

If the Bible is the Word of Truth, and the Truth is literally Christ, and Christ, in human form, said that he teaches in parables (stories), so that some might understand, is it possible that this applies to other teachings of the Bible, where the original audience knew nothing of complicated and abstract scientific concepts? That is, they lacked knowledge of nature, did they not?

      1. Christopher J. Johnson,

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

“A true believer will not abandon the race over confusion about Genesis, but a luke-warm one just might.”

“For God is not the author of confusion”
        –1 Corinthians 14:33
