“Contemporary worship” is as popular now in the apostate churches as any dance craze in the world at large.
What is contemporary worship?
Contemporary Worship: Contemporary worship is a form of Christian worship that emerged within Western evangelical Protestantism in the twentieth century. It was originally confined to the charismatic movement, but is now found to varying extents in a wide range of churches, including many that do not subscribe to a charismatic theology.
Contemporary worship is generally characterised by the use of contemporary worship music in an informal setting. Congregational singing typically comprises a greater proportion of the service than in conventional forms of worship.
NOTICE that contemporary worship is a very modern practice. It’s a form of worship, despite what its many defenders will say, where the focus is on the worshipers. Contemporary worship (and all of its handmaidens) is the doorway to abandonment.
And abandonment during worship is completely opposed by the Word of God.
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
—Mark 12:30
Worshiping God with all one’s mind opposes all that is valued in contemporary worship: the vain repetitions, the endless singing of a few lines over and over and over, the emphasis on bass and rhythm, the abandonment of self, the giving over to emotions and the attendant release (which is promoted as a “move of God” or a “move of the Spirit.”)
Contemporary worship has more in common with a worldly dance club (which is where much of what is valued in contemporary worship originated.) than it does with the praise, thanksgiving and worship of a holy God.
Which is why contemporary worship is being promoted by the worldly, apostate churches. Some churches now offer a “traditional worship” service and a “contemporary” one as well. (Check back in several years to see which service will prevail.)
Contemporary worship celebrates the participants –who are always looking for (if not finding) God and the Spirit. It also features quite a few antichrist, anti-God lyrics, many with occult overtones. Some are outright opposed to the Word of God.
One popular contemporary “worship” song has lyrics which go
“So set a fire down in my soul
That I can’t contain and I can’t control”
This is easily discerned as not from God if one remembers that “self-control” is one of the fruits of the Spirit [Galatians 5:22-23]. So the worshipers are singing (sometimes repeatedly) anti-God, anti-Spirit songs while caught up in the rhythms and the emotion of the moment.
But hey, it’s got a good beat and you can sway to it.
IF one believes the Bible is the Word of God, one has to believe the following description of worship in the end times.
“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
-—Revelation 13:4,8
QUESTION: Just where does the reader think all of this dragon worship will be taking place? Is there a massive satanic church building plan in the dragon’s future?
Or does he just use the churches which are already shot through with apostasy, perverse spirits, idols, witchcraft, revolt, other gospels and paganism?
And one has to believe the churches of the dragon will be worshiping according to the smart, fashionable, hip contemporary worship currently used by the “cool” apostate churches.
So most church-goers won’t even notice any difference.

THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
