“What’s good for General Motors is good for America”
Americans love their stuff.
Over the years, many, many Americans have chosen to place their faith in material things.
The three previous quotes are just a sample of the faith various Americans have had in the things of the world.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
—1 John 2:15
The first quote is about 180-years-old.
The second was spoken (or paraphrased) in 1952.
The third was popular in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s.
Sears is now part of K-Mart after numerous restructuring plans fell through to save the company as a separate entity.
General Motors isn’t even the largest car company in the United States any more.
And the dollar?
It’s value fading, it appears to be on life support.
What is the lesson to be learned?
Stuff is fleeting.
Don’t place your faith in stuff. What has value in the world today is junk tomorrow.
Don’t place your faith in the things of this world.
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
—1 John 2:17

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
