The Wicked Will Not Prosper

THE WICKED WILL NOT PROSPER
THE WICKED WILL NOT PROSPER

“But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.”
Ecclesiastes 8:13

God’s Word is clear: the wicked will not prosper.

And yet, they toil on.

Mostly in vain.

Oh, sometimes it appears for a season as if the wicked man is winning and God has forgotten those who labor in his name.

But the Bible assures that this is merely an illusion.

The wicked will not prosper, though it may seem that way for a short while.

Because they are rich in the things of this world, many who do not know the whole story believe the wicked to be blessed.

Because the wicked themselves measure success by the amount of money they have, the wicked feel they have “beaten the system;” that they have triumphed over God.

Because he has not been struck dead for his evil deeds, he deceives himself into believing there must be no God.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
Psalm 14:1

But, no one knows what goes on behind the scenes in the life of the wicked.

The rich man is often sick.

Many times, his family is torn by strife and heartache.

His existence, though rich in the things of this world, is a constant source of worry and grief, punctuated by very short periods in which he forgets the sorrow that is his life.

And yet he clings to his money and his power: all which are of this world; all fleeting; none having the power to bring real happiness.

Because the wicked have wealth, even some who should know better feel at times like the Lord has forsaken them and forgotten about the wicked.

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Psalm 37:7

And because he does not know Jesus, he mocks and scoffs at those who lack the things of this world–but who are rich eternally.

The wicked man clings to his wealth and his unbelief. If either should fail him, his entire worldview is often shattered.

There is much suicide and death among those who are rich in the things of this world. Actors, singers, stars, tycoons, celebrities: so many end their lives at a young age though they have everything the world can offer them.

“The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.”
Psalm 37:12-13,16-17

Are you living in iniquity?

It’s not too late to change course.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
