There is a great deal of interest in the end times.
Some of the interest is legitimate. After all, Jesus commanded believers to watch for His Coming.
“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
Knowing what the Bible says about the end times can only help the believer in his obedience to watch.
BUT, there is also a lot of ‘unhealthy’ interest in the end times. There are those who watch for signs of the end times, not because they are believers but because they are looking for an “edge.”
These people figure they might as well squeeze the last drop of “fun” out of life before settling down just in the nick of time to live a “good life” before Jesus comes back.
How do we know this? At one time, this writer was one of those people.
Lastly, there are those whose interest in the end times concerns misleading any who might also show an interest in such things. These people generally are counterfeits: they inhabit the churches, the pulpits and the so-called ‘Christian’ mass media.
These are those who twist Scripture until it is no longer can be recognized. They offer alternate scenarios which challenge what the Bible clearly says. They warn of events about which the Bible is silent.
And they look and sound very closely like believers.
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
—2 Corinthians 11:13-15
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
The New Testament is full of warnings about the last days: about the counterfeit apostles, prophets and teachers.
And false prophets and apostles are everywhere, particularly in the churches.
Scripture also abounds with warnings of counterfeits: of tares which look like the real thing (believers) but which are of the enemy.
“The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
But the lost do not heed the warnings of the Bible, else they would not be lost.
So, why write a piece such as this?
Because one never knows when God Himself will touch a person, opening his mind to the truth and helping save a person from fiery judgment.
“And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”
ALSO, because believers are commanded to do such things by God’s Word.
“Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”
—1 Timothy 4:16
“Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”
Is your interest in the end times to faithfully watch?
Is your interest in the end times to obey what has been commanded?
It’s still not yet too late to turn away from the broad path of destruction.
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
—2 Corinthians 4:3
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
