FIVE BIG SINS in the End Times

BIG FIVE: What are the five big sins in the end times?
BIG FIVE: What are the five big sins in the end times?

“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”
Revelation 9:20-21

A question one hears is “Do you think we are living in the end times?” Many people believe that we are, but many do not (many do not even believe in the ‘end times’).

Still, the question gets discussed.

The Bible listed the five sins of the end times over which men would not repent–even when God is smiting the earth with all sorts of incredible judgments.

What are these five sins?

If we are living in the end times, there should be some evidence that these five sins are very prevalent.

THE BIG FIVE SINS

According to Revelation 9:20-21, the five big sins of the end times are:

  1. Idolatry
  2. Murder
  3. Sorceries
  4. Fornication
  5. Theft

Is there any evidence these sins are integrated into society today?  Let’s take a look.

IDOLATRY

Hollywood idols, rock idols (or rock gods), sports idols, men being ‘idolized’ by children, American Idol: everywhere one looks, he sees idols in everyday life.

And no one even bothers to hide it: they’re called idols.

Celebrities (as well as ordinary Americans) like to talk about all of the sacrifices they’ve made to get where they are.

A great many are not speaking metaphorically.

MURDERS

Murders aren’t just for big cities. And murders aren’t just those actions many think of as ‘murder.’

Murder in America has many different names.

Abortion, contract killings, sudden infant death syndrome, drone strikes, suicides, serial murder, mysterious deaths,  “death with dignity”: the list goes on and on and on…

A lot of murders get misreported as something else. Sometimes, that ‘something else’ sounds fairly innocuous.

But it’s innocent blood being shed and it’s still murder. And God takes notice.

Murder is any time a life is snuffed out prematurely.

Many Americans believe it’s a murder only when there’s no attempt to cover it up or to give it another name.

SORCERIES

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry”
1 Samuel 15:23

Americans are certainly a stubborn people: from a land born of rebellion; which celebrates rebellion; whose national motto might be “Do your own thing.”

Much has been made of the original Greek word for ‘soceries’: pharmakōn. The word translated as ‘sorceries’ can also mean drugs, poison or witchcraft.

ANY of those three.

Or, the context would allow for all of those three meanings. And life in today’s America would make any of those three true (especially if what once was commonly repeated was remembered today: “All medicine is poison“).

Pharma and Sorcery in the End Times

America is a land of witchcraft and a nation of apologists for the craft.

This is especially true in the churches, where the occult has found a happy home.

FORNICATION

Fornication is any sex outside the marriage.

Though it’s not much mentioned, this would include porn or sexually-suggestive material. And everyone in America is told: sex sells.

“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
Matthew 5:28

THEFT

Like murder, theft takes many forms; goes by many different names.

Stealing is often in the eye of the beholder: from bringing home office supplies from work to cheating on your taxes to (some say) the taxes themselves.

So: these are the end times’ Five Big Sins.

Each person’s personal arrangements with sin are just that; personal. Each person will have different experiences with each of the Five Big Sins.

Are these sins prevalent in our time?

Some might argue “No.”

But many (even those who do not want to admit it) know otherwise. And what’s more: the Bible says that men WILL NOT repent of these sins.

Men will not acknowledge their sin.

Sin will be given different names. Sin will not be called sin.

Sin will be called “choices” which each person is free to make.

Men will see a need to repent of their personal choices. They will think it ridiculous.

And that’s one sign of the times in which we live which no one can deny

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
-—1 Corinthians 1:18-19
