The Devil is on a Short Leash

SATAN: Has a job to do for God.
SATAN: Has a job to do for God.

“Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience”
Ephesians 2:2

There are those who exalt Satan, who hold up the devil and who look to illegitimate supernatural power to do their ends.

They are deceived.

They are to be pitied.

Make no mistake: Satan hates God. Satan hates Jesus Christ. Satan is a liar. Satan hates humans and wants nothing more than to see them led to perdition.

But that’s Satan’s job: his job is to tempt humans and attempt to deceive them.

The devil does God’s job and is on a short leash.

Not convinced?

The proof is in the Bible in a couple of places. First, in the first chapter of Job, where Satan asks permission to afflict (test) Job.

Then, when Job remains righteous after Satan’s initial afflictions, the devil again asks permission to further trouble Job.

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.”
Job 2:3-6

So before the devil could afflict one of God’s chosen, he had to get permission from God.

But the final proof comes from Ephesians 2:2.

The word for “power” (as in “the prince of the power of the air“) is “exousias.” This is not a power of oneself; this is a power or authority which is delegated. This is a “power to act” or a “delegated power.”

This is a power from a source higher than the person wielding the power.

It’s like a person who works for the Department of Motor Vehicles: they have power to act from the state. They have no power of their own, only what’s given them by a higher power.

And so it is with Satan: he’s been given power for a season to do the will of God. Satan tempts man: he helps separate the real believers from the pretenders.

God uses evil men to carry out his will every day.

He has always used evil men (probably because evil men are always plentiful).

Satan is doing God’s work, though it probably irks the devil to no great end (as it should all those who labor for Satan). In fact, Satan probably does more for God in one day than all of the wolves in the pulpits in all of the apostate churches put together.

However, Satan is on a short leash.

The poor workers of iniquity: IF Satan is on a short leash, the workers of iniquity are on micro-leashes.

They fancy themselves ‘movers and shakers,’ working on their grand plans, always moving around in the darkness and having to pretend.

When in reality they labor for the One they hate; fulfilling their God-ordained roles as recorded thousands of years ago in God’s Word.

The poor, deceived workers of iniquity.

Do you want true eternal power?

Go to the True Source.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
-—1 Corinthians 1:18-19

Pretentious Quotes, the Ungodly and Helen Keller

Helen_Keller22-WMcommons

Pretension: it’s a sign of the end times.

About a year ago, in search of something completely different, this writer came across one of those pretentious graphics so popular nowadays with the set which pretends to be Christian or spiritually-minded.  The reader is no doubt familiar with these: it’s a picture of a sunset, a sunrise, a forest, something that looks like “unspoiled nature.”

Superimposed over top the picture is a quote by someone considered wise by the person who put together the graphic.

These days, Albert Einstein is popular. The great majority of the time, the quote is of an antichrist nature.  But that only enhances its popularity with worldly people in the times in which we find ourselves.

This particular graphic featured the following quote.

“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark than walk alone in the light.”
–Helen Keller

What did Jesus have to say about that?

“Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.”
John 12:35

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 8:12

And that pretty much sums up the difference between the world (including 99+ percent of Americans who label themselves “Christians”) and the true believer.  The true believer walks in the light; and because he walks in that light, he understands that it will be a lonely walk scorned by the world.

The world honors and exalts its own. The world hates the believer.

“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
John 15:19

This includes those lifted up and honored by the world (such as Helen Keller)–and who are quoted by many pretending to be Christians or the ‘spiritually-minded.’

[By a great coincidence, Helen Keller is the same woman who incorporated an age-old satanic hand sign into the American Sign Language as the sign for “I love you.”]

Pretension is a sign of the end times.

So is the exaltation of ungodly men and women by the world.

Looking for an End Times Sign

LOOKING FOR AN END TIMES SIGN
LOOKING FOR AN END TIMES SIGN

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
2 Timothy 3:1-5

There are a great many people who are looking for signs of the end times. These people are fortunate: the Bible gives a complete list of end times signs.

Unfortunately, most people do not believe the Bible.

IF one is looking for end times signs, one of the most comprehensive list of signs can be found in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Paul lists a number of characteristics men will exhibit in the end times.

  • Lovers of their own selves
  • Covetous
  • Boasters
  • Proud
  • Blasphemers
  • Disobedient to parents
  • Unthankful
  • Unholy
  • Without natural affection
  • Trucebreakers
  • False accusers
  • Incontinent (lacking self-restraint; uncontrolled)
  • Fierce
  • Despisers of those that are good
  • Traitors
  • Heady (willful, rash)
  • Highminded (pretentious)
  • Lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
  • Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof

Pride” is a regular topic here and we’ve expounded on a few others on the list (such as ‘having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof“),  but each of these end times characteristics could easily merit an article of their own.

HOWEVER, most of the people looking for signs of the end times dismiss Paul list of signs in 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

“I know people like that!”

“There’s always been unholy people!”

“Those aren’t signs. I’m looking for REAL signs!”

It is this last group of people to which the Modern American Prophecy Industry caters.

For a price (of their latest book or DVD or a ticket to their most recent conference), the prophecy-mongers are only too happy to supply their readers with false, non-biblical, dragon-approved ‘signs of the end times.’

Rebuilt Jewish temples, a totally evil super-villain wearing a scary Anti-Christ uniform, seven-year peace treaties, fake end times wars, seven-year Great Tribulations, magic ‘raptures’ which transport pew-sitters to heaven before they’re required to stand up for Jesus: IF one hungers for flesh-pleasing, sight-walking signs of the end times, the Prophecy Industry has no shortage of man-manufactured signs–for a price.

But back to 2 Timothy.

IF one is under 30, one might think “People have always been this way.”

But if one is older than 30, then one has memories of a time when (most) men were (publicly) better.

Paul was writing about how MOST MEN will be in the end times, not the occasional churl. These are the qualities which will be TAUGHT and ADMIRED in the media and entertainment.

These are the qualities our LEADERS will exhibit.

These qualities will be so ‘normalized’ people will have a hard time even recognizing them as not normal.

All of the many people who hunger for ‘awesome’ end times signs will get their wish: they will see end times signs and lying wonders.

However, when the more obvious ‘spectacular’ signs of the end times begin, the deceived masses will not see them for what they are. They will see them as ‘proof’ that Man Has Ushered In a New Age.

A golden age: ‘heaven on earth’ some will say.

The lost and deceived will see no big road sign saying “End Times Straight Ahead.”

However, believers will know the times.

“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”
1 Thessalonians 5:2-4

IF one does not take seriously the many signs the Bible offers in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, then one will not recognize any of the other REAL biblical signs when they appear.

Because almost everyone will be sent a strong delusion from God Himself.

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

Even the lost, the deceived and the heathen knows that ‘things are not right.’

Recognizing that the times are ready to change is no proof that one is ready to face them.

Time is growing short.
