10 End Times Deceptions – Part Two

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
Matthew 24:4

10 End Times Deceptions – Part One

Anyone who reads very much about the end times knows that the period before Jesus Returns will be characterized by great deception.

The Bible is very clear about the deception which surrounds the last days.

And yet, IF one reads so-called “Christian” media, one is immediately struck by how much OUTRIGHT deception it contains. Christian mass media appears to exist solely to challenge what the Bible clearly says about the last days.

What are some of the most prevalent deceptions?

There are many.

Almost too many to address.

However, many of the most egregious lies and errors have to do with the last days themselves. The mistakes are so cleverly-worded and so contrary to the Bible, it’s apparent they are meant to deceive the reader.

(This doesn’t mean that there aren’t folks who honestly believe the deceptions. The Bible says that people will be deceived. God’s Word doesn’t lie. It also says there will be those who are “deceived and deceiving.”)

In Part One, there were five common end times deceptions covered.

  1. Take the mark of the beast, repent and be saved.
  2. UNITY is what the Church needs.
  3. There will be a great end times revival of the Church.
  4. The Church will not see the bad times because it will be taken to heaven in a secret, pre-tribulation rapture.
  5. Men will be able to prepare physically for the time of great tribulation.

How many is the reader familiar with?

    • 6. The period of tribulation is seven years long.

When God wants to make sure people don’t miss an important point, it appears more than once in His Word.

The length of time for the tribulation and its events appears SEVEN times in Scripture.

ALL of them say the same thing: it is 3 1/2 years, not seven.

The popular teaching of “Daniel’s 70th week” being the cause of a seven-year tribulation period is a relatively new teaching. One cannot find it before the 1800s.

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.”
Daniel 9:24

As stated the Bible is quite clear about the length of time of the tribulation. Actually, it will be even shorter than 3 1/2 years: the time will be cut short by God for the elect’s sake.

“And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”
–Matthew 24:22

To make sure that the public has the deception hook set deep in their mouths, Hal Lindsay’s 1970’s best-seller The Late Great Planet Earth [28+ million copies and a movie], and the 1990’s Left Behind series [65+ million copies and four movies] dished up a seven-year tribulation (among their many, many other deceptions.)

  1. 1260 days (3 1/2 years) -+ The two witnesses shall prophesy. And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
    Revelation 11:3
  2. 1260 days (3 1/2 years) – Woman is sustained in the wilderness.“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”
    Revelation 12:5-6
  3. Time, times and half a time (3 1/2 years) – Woman is nourished in the wilderness.“And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.”
    Revelation 12:14
  4. Forty and two months (3 1/2 years) – Power is given to the beast to continue.“And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months”
    Revelation 13:5
  5.  In addition, there are three verses in Daniel which refer to time, times and a dividing of time (3 1/2 years). Various writers, including Lindsay and the Left Behind crew, have added the verses from Daniel into their tales of “Daniel’s 70th week.”

Great Tribulation: Periods of Time in Revelation VS Claims of Man

Just to make sure there are no questions, the Bible gives the length of time in days (1260), months (42) and years.

And yet, the dragon’s minions STILL twist Scripture and men are STILL deceived by it.

    • 7. A third Jewish temple will be constructed in Jerusalem during the end times.

This is one of the favorites of the Modern American Prophecy Industry.

The story goes that the Antichrist will stand in this newly-constructed third Jewish temple and commit blasphemy at the midpoint of the seven-year tribulation.

But what does Scripture say?

First, the “temple” is NOT a building: it is the Church, with each member an individual temple of the Holy Spirit, which (after Jesus rose) dwells in each individual believer.

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16

The apostle Paul directly addresses this future defilement of the temple of God and clearly lets the reader know what the temple is.

“If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
1 Corinthians 3:17

Acts makes it VERY clear about what constitutes the temple.

“Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,”
Acts 7:48

“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;”
Acts 17:24

The temple of God is no longer a building: it is the body of believers; the Church of Jesus Christ.

“Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,”
Ephesians 2:20

What would be the reason for building a third Jewish temple?

“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”
Hebrews 10:4

[NOTE: Because so much time, effort and resources have been poured into this deception of a third Jewish temple, it most likely WILL BE BUILT. It will be a deception.

However, know that the Bible is completely silent on the matter and does NOT call such a building the “temple of God.”]

    • 8. The one-world government of the New World Order is the final deception. It is the end of deception. The pope is the antichrist. The pope is the main guy of the first beast (one-world government).

Satan is a tricky fellow.

The New World Order is NOT the end of deception.  It is only the beginning.

The pope is NOT the antichrist: he is just a figurehead of the first beast system.

The first beast of Revelation 13 is a political system which will be VERY PUBLICLY EVIL. And  a great many will naturally hate it (even though the world will admire and respect its awesome military power).

“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”
Revelation 13:1-2,4

This first beast is a political system (as explained to John by an angel later in Revelation: the horns are ten kings). However, the political system is given a “mouth” (corresponding in description to the little horn of Daniel 7) which seems to be the beast (the person) which is referred to later in Revelation.

“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.”
Revelation 17:7

Daniel elaborates on the ten horns of the beast.

“After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”
Daniel 7:7-8

The New World Order is the first beast: it is a political system. It may have the trappings of religion, but it will not be a religious system, per se.

The second beast is a satanic church: it is a church system.

It looks like Christianity but speaks like the dragon (Satan).

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”
Revelation 13:11

The man of sin (2 Thessalonians 2:3) is the head of this system (which takes over the power of the first (political) beast–for a while. The man of sin is also called the false prophet in Revelation.

This satanic church system is pictured as the harlot which rides the beast in Revelation 17.

The man of sin will rise to power by calling down fire from heaven and appearing to destroy the first beast (which is hated by men). Deceived men will celebrate the man of sin as a “good man” who may even be the Messiah.

“And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast;”
Revelation 13:13-14

While the first beast system is hated and IS evil, it’s the second beast which will ultimately deceive the masses.

The second beast eventually is destroyed by the horns (kings) BUT, the man of sin apparently escapes because we see him after the harlot is destroyed (of Revelation Chapter 17 and 18), until he is thrown alive into the lake of fire.

    • 9. A seven-year peace treaty will be signed by the antichrist.

It is JESUS who is referred to in Daniel 9:27, not the antichrist.

And there is NO peace treaty.

For years, the Modern American Prophecy Industry has been cranking out yarns about a seven-year peace treaty which supposedly kicks off the tribulation period.

Here’s the verse they twist to back up their deception.

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
Daniel 9:27

Daniel is referring to the Messiah (and says so in verse 26) and yet the deceivers suddenly make this verse about the antichrist.

A covenant is NOT a peace treaty. A covenant is between God and man. The verse is referring to Jesus.

It’s Jesus who did away with the sacrifices: He was the once-and-for-all sacrifice.

“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Hebrews 10:10

Jesus did away with the sacrifices by his death and resurrection–which occurred after 3 1/2 years (midway through the week referred to in Daniel 9:27).

It was JESUS who confirmed the covenant.

“And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ,”
Galatians 3:17

And JESUS confirmed the covenant (which is the same as a testament) for many.

“And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.”
Mark 14:24

The abomination which made desolate was the crucifixion of Jesus. In fact, Jesus said as much while referring to Jerusalem.

“Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.”
Matthew 23:38

[This doesn’t mean there won’t be a seven-year peace treaty. Again, the mystery of iniquity has spent a lot of time, resources and effort to further this deception over the last 40 years or so. But this peace treaty is not in the Bible and Daniel 9:27 says NOTHING about such a peace treaty.]

    • 10. The armies of the world are gathered at Armageddon to fight Jesus Christ upon His return. They are gathered using demonic power (which apparently is fairly prevalent). Some of this is being prepared now under the deception of “Space Weapons to protect against Near-Earth Objects.” This is also where the end times deception of UFOs, ETs and space aliens fits into the end times. The UFO/space aliens deception has been prepared for the last 70 years.

Again, Satan is a tricky fellow.

The armies of the whole world will be gathered together at Armageddon. They are gathered using the deceptions wrought by demonic power.

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”
Revelation 16:13-14,16

When Jesus returns, it will be to judge the world.

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.”
Revelation 19:11-14

The armies of the world will be gathered at Armageddon to fight Jesus upon His return.

“And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.”
Revelation 19:19

How deceived does the world have to be to believe they can fight against God?

It is a slaughter.

“And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs [two hundred miles].”
Revelation 14:20

10 End Times Deceptions – Part One

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
-—1 Corinthians 1:18-19
