Watch and Pray Always: End Times Preparation

WATCH AND PRAY ALWAYS
WATCH AND PRAY ALWAYS

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
Luke 21:36

A discussion recently took place concerning what one might do to prepare for what’s soon to be coming upon the earth.

The number one suggestion was to believe on Jesus Christ, place your complete trust in Him for eternal salvation and be born again.

The number two suggestion was to obey the commands which Jesus gave concerning the end times.

First and foremost among these commands was to be not deceived.” By being born again, one receives the Holy Spirit, which will lead the believer into “all truth“–IF one listens.

Secondly, believers are commanded to take heed (be alert), to watch and to pray always. Luke 21:36 gives additional, specific information that the believer is to “pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass.”

“That is the goal. There will be no dread of the Son then if one is ready.”
Robertson’s NT Word Pictures

That is the goal of praying always: to be ready; to be prepared for what is coming; to be spiritually fortified.  To obey the commands of Jesus Christ and to be found worthy to stand before Him when He returns.

And that was pretty much the extent of that particular conversation.

“Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.”
Mark 13:33

Are you ready to stand before the Son of Man?

Are you working for the enemies of God?

It’s not too late to switch to the winning side.

“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
John 20:31

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
