“A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.”
–Matthew 16:4
The faithless reason “IF God were real, He’d send me a sign so I could believe.”
The faithless constantly look for such signs. IF they had faith, they would need no signs; but lacking faith, they accept what they can see with their eyes, touch with their hands, experience with their senses.
This makes them easy prey for an enemy which eagerly provide such physical evidence.
Of course these entities do not usually admit to being demonic. They use a variety of names more acceptable to humans: spirit guides, fairies, earth goddess, ascended masters, elementals–the list is a long one.

Again, the deceived, as well as the ‘deceiving and deceived,’ want a sign.
The believer DOES NOT seek a sign of God. The believer operates through faith, which allows the believer to believe without physical evidence.
To the believer, FAITH is as real as any physical proof.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
–Hebrews 11:1
Ironically, the believer does not seek signs from God, but from time-to-time, the believer is provided various signs AFTER believing.
Jesus was emphatic that the wicked would receive no signs.
However, the end times will be filled with signs, miracles and “lying wonders.” These signs will be from Satan and for those without faith. The proliferation of these physical ‘proofs’ will be, in itself, a sign of the end times.
And they will be very convincing, very deceiving, very effective.
Though they have been warned, the lost will be taken in by these “lying wonders.”
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
–Matthew 24:24
“And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do”
–Revelation 13:13-14
However, the believer receives signs from God which he doesn’t ask for or demand.
And, while they are appreciated, they are not necessary for his belief.
The unbelieving won’t believe unless they receive a sign and the signs are usually provided AFTER one believes.
How ironic.
But then, God says that those who come to Him must come through faith, not physical signs.
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
–Hebrews 11:6
So, the unbelieving continue their search for signs, which they WILL NOT receive from God, but which they WILL find elsewhere.
However, eternal destruction is a high price to pay.
And it is the price demanded from ALL those who provide signs to the faithless.
“Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.”
–John 4:48

THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
