Many avoid mirrors.
Ever wonder why?
Wikipedia claims “eisoptrophobia” is the “fear of or aversion towards an individual’s own image in reflection. It is distinct from Spectrophobia, the fear of mirrors.”
However, many other sources, including at least one medical source, declare eisoptrophobia to be “the fear of mirrors.”
Many celebrities are scared of mirrors.
Pam Anderson “can’t stand the sight of a mirror.”
Johnny Depp says he “avoids looking in the mirror.”
Nicole Kidman claims she “hates looking in the mirror” because she’s not obsessed with her appearance?!?
Some go so far as to ban all mirrors in their homes. Various, mostly unconvincing, excuses are given for this aversion to mirrors.
But what is it really?
Those into demonology and the Kaballah provide a clue. Concerning their tradition of covering mirrors in a house of mourning:
The Kabbalists give a more spooky reason for covering mirrors in a house of mourning. They write that all types of evil spirits and demons come to visit a family in mourning. When a soul leaves this world, it leaves a void, an emptiness that is prone to be filled by dark forces. This is because wherever there is a vacuum, negativity can creep in. And so the house of mourning, the place where the loss is felt the most, is a magnet for evil spirits.
—Why are the mirrors covered in a house of mourning?
This writer met someone who didn’t have mirrors in their house because they saw more images in their mirror other than their own reflection.
Some claim mirrors are “portals into other dimensions.” Actually, this is quite a popular reason given for seeing others in a mirror besides one’s own reflection.
Mirrors and other reflecting surfaces have long been used in divination. ALL divination is connected with demons and familiar spirits (demons).
“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD:”
–Deuteronomy 18:10-12
So while there are numerous cover stories offered, it seems the basic reason for the avoidance of mirrors is fear; specifically, fear of what one might see.
Fear brought on by the demonic as a TORMENT.
Like the mistaken notion of the “haunted house,” demons do not hang around mirrors waiting for people to look into them.
“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.”
–Matthew 12:43
Demons are ALREADY in the people who are tormented by seeing things (other than their reflection) in mirrors.
Mirrors are not the problem, they are a symptom.
Likewise, seeing creatures in mirrors is a symptom.
Getting rid of mirrors will not solve the underlying problem. Likewise, treating the symptom with copious amounts of alcohol, drugs or other distractions will not solve the underlying problem.
“As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.”
–Proverbs 27:15
Many are convinced the temporary things of this world are worth the torment NOW and the (much worse) eternal torment TO COME.
Have you traded your eternal salvation for supernatural parlor tricks, trinkets and other temporary advantages which are fleeting?
There is a way out–regardless of what one has been told.
There is a way out–and then there’s no looking back.
There is a way out–but one has to take it.
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
