“The sun had risen upon the earth when Lot entered Zoar. Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens. So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.
But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.”
–Genesis 19:23-26
Don’t look back.
An important point to remember for anyone who becomes a member of the kingdom of heaven. There’s nothing back there; only sin, death and bad times.
Sometimes, the temptation is to harken back to simpler times: to times before one knew how wicked this present world really was.
But again, why look back? There’s nothing back there. The best that can be said of those times is that one didn’t know how prevalent evil was.
One was ignorant, blind and deceived.
“Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife.”
–Luke 17:30-42
The further one gets along in one’s ‘Christian walk,’ the less appeal looking back has for ANY REASON.
Would one go back? Back to deception, death and eternal destruction? Upon what is there to look back?
Looking ahead, one anticipates a short season of tribulation and persecution in this world, a concurrent short season of service and THEN: an eternal life of peace and divine fellowship.
Don’t look back: time is too short.
Concentrate on the tasks at hand, of which there are many–and the time is very short.
“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”
–John 9:4
Don’t look back.
All that is back there is another man’s lost and broken life: long past gone and better to be forgotten.
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
–Luke 9:62

THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
