THE BIBLE
AN AMAZING LIBRARY OF BOOKS WHICH HIGHLIGHT THE DAY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
“Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.”
–Isaiah 13:6
Many people think of the Bible as a book. But it is much more than a book. The Bible is a library of 66 different books.
These books were all written over roughly a 1500-year period by around 40 different writers. The earliest books were written around 3400-3500 years ago. The most recent book was written about 1925 years ago.
One of the central themes of this library, with references in many of the books, is THE DAY OF THE LORD.
The day of the Lord is the day when Jesus Christ returns to earth executing judgment upon the wicked.
References to the day of the Lord were made by both the major and minor prophets of the Old Testament, in the Psalms, as well as in the gospels and epistles of the New Testament. It all culminates with the Book of Revelation, which is wholly concerned with end times prophecy and the return of Jesus Christ.
Studying all of these references concerning the day of the Lord–some are a sentence or two; Revelation is an entire book–presents a very, very detailed picture of not only that day of judgment and destruction, but of the times surrounding that day and the aftermath.
References from different writers, from different times, fit together into a cohesive whole. Some reinforce and augment what is written elsewhere; some provide new information altogether.
But one constant remains: the day of the Lord will be a day of vengeance of a long-suffering God. It will be the Creator answering the long-endured slings and arrows of His rebellious creation. It will be a time of recompense for mockers and scoffers; a day of settling accounts with the wicked.
For the great majority of men who do not fear the Lord, it will be a day of great and sudden terror: a day of great earthquakes, great signs in the heavens, changes in the sun, moon and stars, lightnings, voices, thunders and great hail.
It will be a day of judgment of those who believe they are beyond such concepts.
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.”
–1 Corinthians 3:19
The day of the Lord will put the lie to the ideas that man is divine; that man has access to hidden wisdom; that man can evolve beyond the reach of an eternal reckoning.
It will be a time of tremendous changes for a world saturated by sin; crime-ridden and corrupt and in the grip of wickedness.
And it will be a time when deceptions, accepted by a deceived world as truth, will be revealed as lies.
And it all has been recorded for centuries–as a WARNING!–in an amazing library of a book derided by foolish, deceived men as a “fairy tale.”
“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.”
–Joel 3:14

THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
