SPIRITUAL WARFARE: The Explosive Power of the Believer’s Prayers

Spiritual Warfare: Pray in the Spirit

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
–Ephesians 6:18

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

PART FIVE

In the realm of spiritual warfare, few things match the power of the prayers of the believer.

“Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.”
–John 9:31

Because a believer has the power of the Holy Spirit, his prayers are a conduit of dunamis (explosive, miraculous) power.

ONLY believers, THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT, have access to this mighty, miraculous power. With the Holy Spirit, believers may confidently engage in spiritual warfare.

Yes, the name of Jesus is very important. Evil spirits are cast out in the name of Jesus.

“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”
–Luke 10:17

But it should never be forgotten that the name of Jesus is not all there is.

“Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
–Matthew 17:19-21

In Matthew 17:19-21, the disciples of Jesus did not yet have access to the explosive dunamis power of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit had not yet come to believers.

The Holy Spirit could only come upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”
–John 16:7

Though devils (demons, evil spirits, unclean spirits) are cast out in the name of Jesus, it is the power of God which uproots them. Jesus said that devils were cast out by the “Spirit (finger) of God.”

“But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.”
–Matthew 12:28

Those who are looking for supernatural (spiritual) power only (or primarily) will not become members of the kingdom of heaven. The power of the Holy Spirit is a benefit of, not the reason for, becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ.

“But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.”
–Acts 8:9-24

PART SIX: SPIRITUAL WARFARE: The Explosive Power of the Prayers of the Believer

A SPIRITUAL BATTLE PLAN

Ephesians 6:18 offers a battle plan for prayers which enable effective spiritual warfare.

“PRAYING ALWAYS…”

“Pray without ceasing.”
–1 Thessalonians 5:17

“…WITH ALL PRAYER AND SUPPLICATIONS…”

Praying not only for the good things of God, but against the wickedness and evil in this world; keeping in mind that the believer is not engaged in a battle with flesh and blood but with spiritual wickedness.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
–Ephesians 6:12

This means that the believer is to offer prayers and supplications, not only for other believers (which is very important), BUT FOR ALL MEN.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”
–1 Timothy 2:1

This includes praying for ALL WHO ARE IN AUTHORITY: national and local leaders and the police–EVEN THOUGH UNGODLY MEN MAY CALL THEM “TYRANTS.”

EVEN IF these men engage in ungodly actions–ESPECIALLY if they engage in ungodly action–we are to pray for them.

EVEN IF these men in authority despitefully use you.

EVEN IF these men may indeed be tyrants.

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
–1 Timothy 2:2

“…IN THE SPIRIT;”

This is an important reason for believers to pray: unbelievers may pray, but they CANNOT pray in (with) the Spirit of God, simply because they do not have the Spirit of God.

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”
–Jude 1:20

And the Spirit of God prays much more effectively than the believer (still being flesh and blood) ever can. In fact, the Holy Spirit prays as we SHOULD pray IF we were able.

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
–Romans 8:26

MUCH MORE importantly, the Spirit of God prays according to the will of God.

“And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
–Romans 8:27

And if believers pray according to the will of God, God will grant their petitions.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
–1 John 5:14-15

“AND WATCHING THEREUNTO WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE…”

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”
–Colossians 4:2

“…AND SUPPLICATION FOR ALL SAINTS;”

Believers are not only to pray for all men, but for all the saints as well.

CONCLUSION

And this is why the prayer of the believer is the foundation of all effective spiritual warfare.

No matter that men and the traditions of men may say otherwise.

Praying with the Spirit of God ensures powerful prayers which will be granted. It is a pipeline to God Himself.

NOTE: Spiritual warfare may be undertaken by non-believers, but it will be neither effective nor consistent. As the Bible is a witness, God sometimes uses wicked and lost men to fulfill His will.

Sometimes.

Mainly because it’s mostly what He has to work with.

Is the reader ready to work with Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God Himself?

Is the reader tired of operating without power or with a power he cannot trust?

Is the reader ready to walk the narrow path?

Tender Mercies of the Lord: Will Not Always Be Available

“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
John 20:31

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

NOTE: Those who are looking for spiritual power only (or primarily) will not become members of the kingdom of heaven. The power of the Holy Spirit is a benefit, not the reason, for becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ.

In addition, one huge difference between supernatural power from God and illegitimate supernatural power: God allots His power to accomplish HIS work; His ends; His purpose.

It’s hard to see how God would release His power so a group of church-goers who are looking for a weekly “move of the Spirit” can feel goosebumps at a service.

Individuals use illegitimate supernatural power to accomplish their own selfish purposes (though some may protest they use their power for good).

END TIMES LIE: I Went to Heaven and Came Back

End Times Lie: Man returning from the Dead

RETURNING FROM THE DEAD

The media and entertainment worlds have both been full of stories about people who have “died and returned from the dead.”

[This lie is closely related to the lies: “Man can live forever!” and “Man can raise the dead!

Many of these people claiming to have went to heaven have a message for humanity. Typically, many were given this message for humanity’s benefit.

Cardiologist Details His Encounters with Death and Offers Proof of an Afterlife

Countless books about men, women and children who have claimed to have died and returned from heaven have been written and promoted. The “I died, went to heaven and now I’m back!” lie is still being told and still being written about.

[Occasionally, someone will claim they went to hell and returned with a message. Such as “I came back from hell.“]

The primary reason this lie is still being told is because it works.

Some recent variations on this lie: the “near death experience” and the “I was clinically dead but returned to life!

Despite the media’s best efforts at deception, NO ONE is coming back.

The books by authors claiming to have died and returned (usually from heaven) have exploded in the last 10 years or so. This anti-biblical deception has been around for a long time, but it has really taken off over the last decade.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
–Hebrews 9:27

To ensure no one would be deceived on this point, Jesus spoke a parable about it.

“There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
–Luke 16:19-31

No one is dying, going to heaven or hell and coming back with a message.

God allowed it to happen with His Son, Jesus Christ for a very specific reason. TV and Internet preachers are not dying and returning with messages for a breathlessly-awaiting mankind.

It is part of an end times deception that has proved popular because men are curious about what happens after they die AND MOST MEN DO NOT BELIEVE GOD’S WORD.

There was One who died, was buried and was raised from the dead according to the Scriptures for the salvation of all mankind. Those who place their trust in Him will not be ashamed.

Belief on Jesus Christ assures the believer of eternal salvation. Non-belief condemns the unbeliever to eternal judgment.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
–John 3:16-20

END TIMES LIE: Man will Live Forever

End Times Lie: Man-made Eternal Life

MAN-MADE ETERNAL LIFE, OR
MAN WILL LIVE FOREVER SCIENTIFICALLY

The Corporate Media regularly features pieces on man-made eternal life. These originate most often from the work of various “scientists.”

  1. Scientists take a step closer to ETERNAL LIFE as they PRESERVE and REVIVE brain
  2. How Science can make us immortal
  3. In a possible brave new world, will it be possible to live forever?
  4. Can our minds live forever?
  5. How to Freeze Your Brain and Live Forever (Maybe)
  6. Will technology help us live forever?
  7. Who wants to live forever? 150 is already in reach; end of death possible

The reader gets the picture.

The “Man will live forever” is closely related to the one about “Man will raise the dead.” Both have been around for centuries.

This “man will not die” or “Man will live forever” lie is the same one the serpent told Eve in the garden.

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die”
–Genesis 3:4

Satan’s Mouthpiece repeats this lie today because it still works.

Add the “Science will conquer death” to the “Live forever!” and the “immortality” of the thousands of vampire references in the media and popular culture and entertainment, and one can see Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) has a fixation on man-made eternal life.

Why is that?

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”
–Hebrews 9:27

Men do not want to die because men do not want to face judgment.

Regardless of what the wicked claim, they are definitely uneasy about a day of reckoning. Being judged for a life of selfishness and sin is not something they prefer to think about.

Men will lie to themselves throughout their lives that a day of reckoning will not come or does not exist. But as the day of their doom draws closer, many look for an escape; a way out.

So the lie of living forever in this evil world is something that naturally appeals to them.

And it is a lie which is being promoted in the media.

Evil men have always schemed for a way to “beat the system” eternally.

The wicked are deceived and believe they can outsmart God Almighty.

“And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
–Matthew 13:50

And there will never be a short supply of other wicked men and evil spirits (as long as this present world exists), who will assist in such delusions.

“And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
–Matthew 13:42

There IS a way out, but it requires repentance (a change of direction in life).

But times grows shorter.
