Though the Wicked Ascend for a Season: God is in Control

The Power of God: God is in Control

“And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?”
–Daniel 4:35

Rich and powerful men may meet in secret and scheme their schemes.

Though these plans take centuries to come to pass and though the men behind these plans have the power of spiritual wickedness in high places, the fact remains: these men are still men.

Though rich and powerful men employ an army of wise men and “experts; though they may have access to “ancient wisdom;” though they may receive the counsel of familiar spirits: IF they were truly wise, they would know their rebellion against God Almighty and His Anointed, Jesus Christ, is a fool’s errand.

“Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?”
–Romans 9:20

God retains complete control of His creation.

“Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.”
–Isaiah 40:15,17

Though the wicked rise in a rebellion long-planned, they do nothing but carry out the will of their Creator.

Though they curse and shake their tiny fists at God, He holds them in derision.

He holds their plans in derision as well.

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.”
–Psalm 2:4-5

No matter how rich and powerful are wicked men, their plans are worthless.

Though they control all the power of men in the whole world, they are powerless against their Creator.

Except they condemn themselves for eternity, their future is out of their hands.

The wicked may be fooled into believing they are masters of the world: ultimately they accomplish nothing except as they fulfill the LORD’s wishes.

However far they believe they may go, they may only go as far as has already been predetermined for them.

The wicked WILL have a season where they will be successful: forty-two months, three-and-one-half years, one thousand-two hundred-sixty days.

“And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.”
–Revelation 13:5,7

Forty-two months of control…

…in exchange for being tormented for eternity.

“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”
Revelation 14:10-11

The LORD has been to the future, determined the ends of the matter and declares their doom.

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure”
–Isaiah 46:9-10

Regardless of how bad things may look, God is ALWAYS in control.

Always.

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
–Matthew 19:26

It is still not too late to change direction, leave the wide path of destruction and set one’s feet on the narrow path of life.

“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
John 20:31

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
