DECEPTION and the Details of End Times Prophecy

LOOKING FOR THE PARTICULARS OF END TIMES PROPHECY

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

From time to time, the question is asked “Why doesn’t ETPR feature more articles on prophecy?”

The question, after more conversation, is usually clarified to mean “more articles providing more DETAILS about prophecy.”

The short answer is that we do feature a LOT of articles about the particulars of end times prophecy.  Because Jesus clearly warned of deception in Matthew 24 (3 times in 24 verses!), that subject figures heavily among our topics.

But, after more conversation/correspondence, what the questioner usually wants are more articles of the “This-is-what-happens-when” variety.  There are literally hundreds of websites which feature such information (and dozens which also include “prophetic words” from various people associated with a website).  Many have charts of when such-and-such will take place.  Many have timelines for this-and-that.

A great many regularly discuss the latest topic sweeping the apostate churches; i.e., the Four Blood Moons.

Four Blood Moons: American Church Comfortable with Witchcraft

In fact, perhaps the greatest deception of the end times involves the apostate churches. Many seeking answers in the end times chaos will run to the churches–only to fall into a long-prepared snare of the enemy.

Satan Has Counterfeited the Christian Church

As mentioned, deception runs rampant–and nowhere is the deception deeper than in the pages of the Modern American Prophecy Industry or among the pews of the American churches.

End Times Deception: The Modern American Prophecy Industry

And one has to admit: the tales spun by the apostates and the prophecy-mongers are mostly entertaining and dramatic (but mostly unbiblical): 7-year tribulations, UFOs and ETs, scary antichrists, giants and nephilim, rebuilt Jewish temples, the paranormal, the red heifer re-discovered, the unexplained and the mysterious, robots, great end times revivals, raising the dead and other miracles by apostate pew-sitters, pre-tribulation raptures, half-human monsters, and fallen angels mating with earth women to produce half-human hybrids.

Which all makes for great Hollywood movies and mass marketed pseudo-Christian books, CDs and DVDs

But they make rotten eschatology.

But it is useless to discuss the details of the end times with someone who is deceived.

A deceived person is able to dismiss or ignore ALL Scripture relating to the end times EXCEPT what deceivers have custom-twisted to fit their schemes.  The ability to ignore or dismiss Scripture is one sign that the person is not a Christian, but a tare.

“Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”
Matthew 13:30

Indignant and Offended: Real Christians do Not Dismiss God’s Word

“We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”
–1John 4:6

“He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”
–John 8:47

So, it would seem that the focus should be on deception, how to recognize it and how to counter it.

God has a way of using the Bible itself to supply all of the right details IF a person is free of deception–especially self-deception. Which is why, from time-to-time, we do feature an article which speaks to the details.

But for the time being, details are meaningless to a person who has been blinded.

And make no mistake: it is God, not Satan, who blinds the eyes of the wicked so they will not receive the gospel and be saved.

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
2 Corinthians 4:4

“Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:”
–Jeremiah 5:21

“Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”
–Acts 28:26-27

Altered Perception is Deception by Another Name

End Times Prophecy Headlines: March 7, 2015

Many today desire the details of end times prophecy: a chart, a time-line, a “prophetic word.” Because many do not know the Word of God, many are deceived by end times hucksters, false teachers and false prophets.

As always, the devil is in the details.

Unless the reader is walking in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ, the particulars of what the Bible declares of the end times will not matter: those details will be foolishness.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
–1John 1:7

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
–1Corinthians 2:14

Laboring under deception?

One who is deceived will not know it–else they would not be deceived.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

NOTE: In the year since parts of this was written, ETPR has featured several articles which address the particulars of end times prophecy, particularly the errors of the teachings of the apostates and the churches. They may be found in the archives.
