“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
IF THERE IS PROOF, NO FAITH IS NEEDED
Men without faith claim they want to believe, if only they had PROOF.
Ironically, if men are supplied with proof, then faith is no longer needed. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. So receiving proof will actually make one LESS likely to encounter God.
One HUGE lie of the world is that men come to believe because God provided them with a sign.
“But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:”
Without faith it is impossible to please God. If one needs proof, one does not have faith. Faith needs no proof.
The world is fascinated by the Shroud of Turin.
People without faith often need physical items to believe in. This is the thinking behind the Catholic Church’s many relics.
Relics have nothing to do with faith. The faithless place their hopes in relics and physical junk. IF the faithless had faith, they would believe on Jesus Christ, not junk.
By definition, faith needs no proof.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
In a sense, faith IS a sense, like seeing, hearing and touching. It serves as a substitute for the physical senses.
Faith needs no proof.
“but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
