“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
–2Corinthians 5:6,8
HAUNTED HOUSES WHICH ARE NOT
One of the great fantasies of the end times has been the promotion of “ghosts” and “haunted houses.”
These fantasies are promoted by movies, books, publications, organizations and churches.
Simply put: there are no such things. And there should be no “Christians” struggling with their faith and the “paranormal” (which is another word for the “the demonic.”
One is either a believer in ghosts and the paranormal or one is a Christian.
One cannot be both.
It doesn’t matter how many wolves in sheep’s clothing insist otherwise.
The world tells many amusing lies about this topic. One of the most popular on this topic is the haunted house.
Pittsburgh family tells story of living inside demon-possessed house
Here’s the question all stories like this have to answer: Is it Biblical that an inanimate object can be possessed?
Yes, yes: behind every idol is a demon. But the demon isn’t IN the idol, it is BEHIND the idol; the idol is the physical representation of a devil (demon).
“What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.”
–1 Corinthians 10:19-20
That’s also the question that all “haunted house” stories ultimately have to answer. According to the Bible, demons HATE being outside of a human body.
“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.”
—Matthew 12:43
Demons want to dwell inside a body. ANY body. Demons would rather be in the body of an animal than outside the body.
“And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.”
–Matthew 8:28-31
So, the next question to ask is: if demons aren’t hanging around a house for decades, “haunting” and waiting for a human body to happen by, then where do these “hauntings” originate? If the demons are not hanging out at the house waiting for someone to show up, how do they get to the house?
One answer is another question: How many Bible-believing born-again Christians have been the object of hauntings?
Here’s the deal: The only entities in a “haunted house” are the ones people bring with them.
Is the reader the subject of torments and hauntings?
There is a solution.
But time is fast running out.
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
—2 Corinthians 4:3
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
