TELL ME A LIE

PART TWO 

WHAT ARE SOME OF THESE STORIES?

 In the times in which we live, people DESIRE to be lied to: modern man would much rather hear lies and pleasant stories than the truth.

IF the reader does not believe this, then the reader is already deceived by one or more of those nice, pleasant stories. God’s Word, the one source of truth, declares that end times man will be wicked, deceived and liking it.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
–2Timothy 3:13

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast…And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
–Revelation 13:4,8

SATAN’S STORIES

“That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:”
—Isaiah 30:9-10

The world is surrounded by a web of stories, both little and large. The overwhelming majority of these little stories are false. But moderns don’t care: they just want to hear a story.

These stories surround modern man and form the foundation for his everyday life. Because these stories are not true, modern man often wonders “Why doesn’t my situation improve? Why don’t things ever get better?”

Modern man’s situation does not improve because  modern man believes lies. Like the old Soviet Union, modern man believes he is living in a paradise (despite what he can see with his own eyes) because modern man IS TOLD he is living in a paradise.

Sick and hurt a lot of the time?

Hey! You’re better off than your ancestors. They only lived to be 30-years-old!

Everyone you know is sickly?

Hey! You have the best health care in the world! You have the best drugs, the best doctors! You probably have bad genes. It’s your fault. Do you eat a lot of junk? You’re probably not a very healthy person.

You no longer have a job? Your factory was shut down and moved out of the country?

Hey! The whole country is working. The only people who are not working are lazy and shiftless. Are you lazy? Then why aren’t you working? IF you are not working maybe some immigrant stole your job.

You know a LOT of people who are not working or working part-time or working a job high school kids used to work?

The whole country is at full employment! Everyone who wants to work is working. The unemployment rate is only 5 percent. Are you a bum? Get a job!

Everything costs so much money? A $20 bill goes as far as a $5 bill used to?

Are you crazy? Prices are stable. In fact, prices are going down! Are you nuts? You must buy drugs! Why can’t you make your money go further?

And so one suspects that one day the story of DNA and the absolute surety of its results will be found every bit as contrived as the surety of Carbon-14 dating: which is to say These stories are completely false.

Man will find out a LOT of false stories, like the story of the Cold War and the story of Republicans vs Democrats and the story of climate change and the story of aliens from outer space and the story of geosynchronous orbit of satellites and the story of man living forever and the story of unscripted pro wrestling and other unscripted professional sports and the story of the Christian backslider and the story of the evolution of man and the story of doctors and drugs curing a person of what ails them and the story of this trial of temptations of a life of 50-80 years being all that there is.

AND the story of the government protecting people from unhealthy food sold in healthy food stores and the story of crazy dictators and good wars and random international events and all of the ridiculous stories of science and the story of super powers and the story of using secret, supernatural power to one’s advantage and the story of good people, a person having a good heart and being a good person and the story of finding Jesus Christ in a pagan temple called a church or the story of healthy processed food and the story of ghosts and haunted houses and the paranormal and the story of the government spying on you using satellites and technology instead of the people who live around you.

AND the story of the good witches and bad witches and the story of the government protecting citizens from illegal drugs and poisons in the food chain and the story of this latest generation being the smartest and best and brightest ever and the story of planets orbiting around the sun and life on earth being a random chemical event which will be duplicated on some far planet and the story of science being some objective high arbiter of the truth instead of science being the remnant of an ancient, pagan religion.

AND the story of the pre-flood civilization being a bunch of loin cloth-wearing savages and the story of the Bible being a mere collection of men’s stories and the story of the GREAT MEN OF GOD such as Billy Graham and David Wilkerson and the story of death with dignity and the right to die and the story of electricity and the story of nuclear weapons and the story of…

The list goes on and is practically endless.

“Tell me a story.”

It’s all about the story. The story has become MUCH more important than the truth. And so, people are lied to constantly, but mostly do not care, as long as the story is a good one.

Once people cease believing the Word of the Lord, they will believe anything.

The World is Not as it Appears

Or is the reader more interested in hearing a story.
