DISTORTING AND NEUTERING GOD ALMIGHTY, THE LORD OF HOSTS
One goal of the one-note “God is Love” singers is to hide God Almighty’s true attributes. The primary way they do this is to focus on God’s love above all other facets of a perfect and holy God.
When such men use the phrase “God is love” what they really mean is “God is love and only love above any other quality which God might possess.”
This is NOT the God of the Bible.
This is a distorted picture of another god: a weak pagan god.
When LOVE is all one hears, the Perfect Judge is hidden.
“How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?”
–Revelation 6:10
When LOVE is all one hears, the LORD of hosts is reined in.
“Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.”
–Jeremiah 50:34
When LOVE is all one hears, the glory of God’s power is veiled.
“By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.”
–Proverbs 8:15-16
When LOVE is all one hears, the man of war’s sword is never drawn.
“The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.”
–Isaiah 42:13
When LOVE is all one hears, righteous wrath never is exercised.
“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
–Romans 12:19
Make no mistake: God Almighty IS love.
But He is much, much more.
And his compassion and mercy–which are fresh and new every morning–are but one part of a multi-faceted Being of which all parts are in perfect harmony.
His love does not cancel out His judgment. His love does not overshadow His holiness or His glory.
In the times in which we live, to say God is Creator of everything in the universe is to be scorned.
So be it.
There are no other gods: there is no other power but the LORD. There are only weak and spiteful spirits deceiving and enslaving the weak and ignorant.
WARNING: Those who turn the LORD into a warm, cuddly love-god do so at their own peril. Such people are worshiping an idol of their own imagination.
There are no other gods but God Almighty.
And that includes any weak gods of man’s own making whose main characteristic is love.
“Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;”
–Job 38:4-6
Are you worshiping a god of your imagination?
Is your god a love god?
It’s not too late to change course.
