THE AMERICAN CHURCH MENU:“I’ll take no Bible study, abortion, a little rebellion, some same sex marriage, a little pride of life and an extra order of women pastors on the side, please.”
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
–2Timothy 4:3-4
Americans are very accustomed to “have it your way.” This habit of picking the parts we like and ignoring what we find inconvenient has spread to the American churches. But is Christianity a menu from which to order what one likes?
I have no problem with telling people that, when they ask. I have no problem with other religions be they Christian, Jehovah’s Witness, or whomever, telling me. Faith is important to me, and if it is so important to someone else that they profess it, more power to them.
This was EXACTLY the stance of this writer–when he was a heathen. There was no pretensions of being a “Christian.” He knew exactly what he was–and a “follower of Christ” wasn’t on the menu.
We live in a country where A GREAT MANY claim to be Christians, yet do not adhere to the tenets of Christianity. In fact, disobedience is a boldly-announced part of this ethos.
Such people place God’s Word in the “Options I have looked at but have declined to follow” list. IF one is a Christian, one follows the commands of God’s Word.
It’s that simple.
“If you love me, keep my commandments.”
—John 14:15
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
—Matthew 5:17-18
The linked piece then goes on to inform readers that the author is a Christian who’s okay with same sex marriage.
And what did the Law have to say about homosexuality?
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
—Leviticus 18:22
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
—Leviticus 20:13
Lest anyone think that homosexuality was only a sin in the Old Testament, the apostle Paul wrote about it several times and in very easy-to-understand sentences.
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,”
—1 Corinthians 6:9
The two Greek words translated in this phrase refer to the active and passive partners in a homosexual relationship.
Pretty clear, huh?
Now CHRISTIANS–as opposed to the churches–are not to condemn homosexuals–or anyone. CHRISTIANS are to offer them a way out of their enslavement to sin–just as Christians are to offer any who are lost a way out.
CHRISTIANS are to give homosexuals the gospel.
BUT only 2 percent of American church-goers share their faith.
(Actually, only 2 percent of American church-goers CLAIM to share their faith–which is something different from actually sharing it. And “sharing one’s faith” is NOT necessarily preaching/sharing the gospel. So a good deal LESS than 2 percent is closer to the mark.)
Which means that AT LEAST 98 percent of the people who sit in churches and call themselves “Christian” in America ARE NO SUCH THING: they’re pretenders, counterfeits, tares; just as lost as the homosexuals which so dismay them.
IF one does not follow God’s Word, one is something other than a Christian–and the god that person is following is an idol erected to receive the worship the God of the Bible deserves. But America is a land of idols. This is confirmed by the many times one hears the phrase “My god wouldn’t (or would) do so-and-so.”
One can be a Christian.
Or, one be a same sex marriage supporter.
But one cannot be both. It’s really very simple.
EXCEPT in apostate America which specializes in turning sin into virtue. Americans think they can “have it all.” Well, they can’t. Not on this topic anyway.
However, church-goers can choose to be deceived and believe they can “have it their way.”
Christianity is not an arena for debate and discussion. One doesn’t get to have an opinion on something about which God has already spoken. While Americans are used to proclaiming “I think” and “I feel,” these have no place in true Christianity. Christianity is not a menu. One either follows God’s commandments and is a Christian.
OR one picks and chooses and is not. One can go to a church, own a Bible, and boldly proclaim that he is a Christian–but that doesn’t mean anything when it’s all said and done.
Jesus was quite clear on the matter.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
—Matthew 7:21-23
When one picks and chooses which of God’s commandments he will obey, one is REALLY choosing eternal death and destruction.
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
—2 Corinthians 4:3
There is much written about preaching the gospel to all the world.
Jesus said that before the end, the gospel of the kingdom will be preached. When does this take place?
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
–Matthew 24:14
The Bible tells us when this takes place.
“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people”
–Revelation 14:6
This takes place immediately before Jesus returns.
Some have said that Jesus cannot return until MAN preaches the gospel to all the world. This is not what the Bible says.
Men have nothing to do with it.
As usual, man has an inflated sense of his own self-importance.
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
—Matthew 24:4
This weekend is the time of the year when the US of A celebrates rebellion, revolt and revolution–long as it is not directed against the USA itself. Hopefully everyone will exercise maximum caution during the next three days.
In Nevada, for example, Clinton has run just three spots during the past two weeks in Las Vegas, as compared to the 502 spots the campaign has aired in the cheaper market of Reno. The heavy lifting in Las Vegas has been left to Priorities USA, which has run 380 spots.
“Our two presidential candidates are still Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. A lot of people are finding it hard to get excited for these two candidates, and nothing proves that more than this actual new poll: Hillary Clinton got 43 percent, Donald Trump 38 percent, and — this was an actual choice — a giant meteor hitting the Earth got 13 percent.”
–Stephen Colbert
Originally, the campaign had hoped to keep Mr. Trump’s vice-presidential choice a secret until the convention, announcing it in Cleveland as a big reveal. But now, an aide said, the thinking has changed, and the team expects to announce Mr. Trump’s running mate before the convention.
“Donald Trump is upset today because so many of his former Republican rivals have not endorsed him. He says he feels like he is running against two parties because none of the guys have jumped in to lend their support. Which makes no sense at all. Donald Trump has been nothing but nice to them.”
–Jimmy Kimmel
“We’re talking about the direction of our country, our children’s future, the direction of the Supreme Court. All of this hinging on the next election, and at such a time as this, you cannot be lukewarm,” she said. “We’re going to take our country back, and you’re either with us, or you’re against us.”
“Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.”
—P.J. O’Rourke
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
—John 20:31

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

House Republican leaders are planning a vote next week on an “anti-terrorism” legislative package that includes a gun-related measure based on a bill by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), GOP sources told POLITICO. The proposal – already rejected by the Senate – would require the Justice Department to go to court to prove “probable cause” that a person is involved in terrorism before he or she is barred from purchasing a firearm. Law enforcement agencies would have 72 hours to try and stop the gun sale. Democrats largely oppose the proposal.
The official civilian death count is far lower than estimates compiled by independent organizations that try to track what the government calls targeted killings in chaotic places like tribal Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Libya. Most of the strikes have been carried out by drones, though a small number have involved traditional aircraft or cruise missiles.
WHY WRITE ABOUT DECEPTION WHEN THE DECEIVED OFTEN APPEAR HOPELESSLY SO?
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
–2Timothy 3:13
The end times are a time of overwhelming deception–and nowhere is that deception more heavily layered and ubiquitous than in the United States of America.
During a recent discussion, a few questions on the topic of deception were posed.
1- How can one fight against spiritual deception?
The only biblical way to fight is through constant prayer to a merciful God.
2- If only God can awaken a spiritually deceived person, why write about deception? The deceived will disbelieve and ignore what you write.
One never knows what God will use to awaken someone who one feels has been hopelessly deceived. Perhaps the person will never open a Bible and God will use another way to crack open the dark recesses of some lost soul’s heart.
Besides, even though there is NO good time for disobedience, the end times are a particularly bad time to disobey the LORD God Almighty.

EXORCISM as a man-made ritual which de-emphasizes the sufficiency the believer has in Jesus Christ.
Vatican endorses exorcists’ association – Why wouldn’t the Vatican endorse this? Exorcism as a ritual takes the focus off of Jesus and puts it squarely on man, the efforts of man and the priest. Exorcism as portrayed/practiced by the Catholic Church makes a mockery of the sufficiency of Christ.
“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
—Hebrews 4:14-16
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
—Philippians 4:13
It hasn’t in the last 40 years–regardless of how many so-called “pro-life” lawmakers are present. Will it this time? What does it matter to the “pro-Life” fundraisers?
“How can the reader know when the Corporate Media is lying to him (never mind the fact that the media is Satan’s Mouthpiece and Satan is the father of lies)? One easy way to tell is the use of “Why” and “How” in the headlines of an article. When the reader sees “Why?” or “How?” in the headline–occasionally “What” is used–that which follows will be a fairy tale, a narrative, a bedtime story spun by the media for the benefit of the media’s master. “Why” usually denotes an on-going narrative; “How” signifies a story line which explains past events. Not all narratives begin with “How” or “Why.” However, the most in-your-face, over-the-top ones usually do. ALL political “news” is narrative.
