Sin of Pride: The Proud Shall be Humbled

Sodom's destruction, Lot: Don't look back
“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.” –Ezekiel 16:49

“A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.”
–Proverbs 29:23

A PROMISE: THE PROUD SHALL BE HUMBLED

Much has been written in these parts about the United States of America and its enduring love affair with the SIN of PRIDE.

HOWEVER, not a lot of emphasis has been placed on what God declares He will do to the proud.

This includes proud people and the countries in which they dwell. This particularly pertains to those countries who promote their SIN–especially the SIN of PRIDE.

“No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure.”
–Psalm 101:5

“For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased”
–Luke 14:11

“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty”
–Proverbs 18:12

“for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
–1Peter 5:5

“The LORD will tear down the house of the proud”
–Proverbs 15:25

“for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
–Luke 18:14

“For the LORD of hosts will have a day of reckoning Against everyone who is proud and lofty And against everyone who is lifted up, That he may be abased.”
–Isaiah 2:12

“The arrogant one will stumble and fall With no one to raise him up; And I will set fire to his cities And it will devour all his environs.”
–Jeremiah 50:32

There are more, but this is a representative sample of what God’s Word has to say about God humbling the proud.

It is a promise: the proud SHALL be humbled.

The haughty and arrogant SHALL fall.

It will happen: ALL who are proud SHALL be brought low.

God is not mocked.

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
–Proverbs 16:18

Is the reader proud?

Is the reader proud of his pride?

It is growing late–but it is not yet too late to change directions (repent).

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3
