Forming Thoughts and Taking Them Captive

Bring every thought into captivity

You’re working at some mundane task and your mind begins to wander. Before long you are are thinking of something which makes you angry or scared or anxious.

Ever wonder where that thought came from; from where it originated?

What does the Bible say you can do to stop such “self-destructive” imaginings?

There’s more to thoughts forming than most of us suspect.

How Do Thoughts Form? – Many thoughts that form originate from somewhere other than our minds.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
2 Corinthians 10:5

Ever wonder where those thoughts come from?

Some are formed while the reader is busy doing something else and before one knows it–he’s being tormented by one thought or another.

Where did that thought come from?

How did it get started?

It had to come from somewhere.

Torment: that’s a key clue as to where these thoughts originate.

It’s helpful if the readers stops when he becomes aware of this and traces the thought backwards to see where it originated.  IF one does this, the answers will be quite surprising.

There is more to say on this topic–and it will be said at some time in the near future.

“Take captive every thought.”

Do not let stray/random/tormenting thoughts have free reign over your mind.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3
