One of the latest crazes among the apostate churches is to trade ministering to local needs/preaching the gospel for the lure of “crisis response” or “rapid response” teams.
Constructing “Crisis response teams” to travel to faraway places, where supposedly the gospel is preached–as opposed to not preaching it closer to home–and where no one can prove what exactly took place is a BIG THING.
Upon their return to the local area, the teams have a boatload of heart-warming stories about what they accomplished while “ministering.”
And pictures: there are always plenty of pictures to illustrate the stories told.
Crisis Response was first pushed by IHOP (International House of Prayer). Here’s a look at their CRI website.
One evaluation of the crisis response philosophy at IHOP by an ex-IHOPer.
IHOP had a whole ministry working at the time, Crisis Response International (CRI), devoted to crisis training and end times preparedness. A former staff member told of multiple staff meetings where pamphlets were distributed with information about how to prepare for the physical demands of a crisis… Elitism, gnostic secret knowledge of the end times, special religious experiences, etc. all differentiated IHOP and those like them from the rest of the American church. That more extreme versions of this theology and praxis grew up and flourished (no matter where they got their start) at IHOP should be of no surprise. From the outside, the extremism blended right in.
NOW, there’s nothing wrong with “lending a hand“–particularly if that hand is lent close to home to those living close to a church.
There also nothing wrong with using the helping hand as an opportunity to preach the gospel.
But when the gospel is not preached in the local church, why should it be believed that it has been preached many miles from there?
Leaven is often used in the Bible as a illustration of the explosive growth of sin.
So it is little wonder “crisis response teams” are experiencing explosive growth among the end times apostates. Besides, it’s another chance to disobey the Bible’s commands while spouting pretty words about doing “God’s work.”
Most don’t know–or care–about the differences, long as it sounds good.
It’s a good fundraiser too!
It’s not hard to see why this scheme is so popular with so many of the churches.
HAS the reader supported a rapid response team?
DOES the reader know the gospel of Jesus Christ?
THEN how can the reader share it?
THERE is still time to change direction (repent) and place one’s trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
