Winning Presidential Campaign Slogans 1964-2016

presidential campaign slogans

Upon examining the slogans of the winning presidential campaign over the past 50-odd years, a few points can be made.

As a rule, the Democrats run on Change–and Hope.

The Republicans run on restoring the USA from the changes of the Democrats–and Hope.

WHY do both political parties run on HOPE?

In actuality: the circumstances of average Americans generally grow worse over time and the need for Hope is nearly universal. Yes, this is a different picture than the one the Corporate Media paints, but it is one which is admitted by many (some grudgingly; others, gladly).

The fact remains: both political parties use Hope as bait.

1964-2016

Lyndon Johnson: “The Stakes are too High for You to Stay at Home”

Richard Nixon: “Nixon’s the One”

Jimmy Carter: “A Leader, for a Change

Ronald Reagan: “It’s Morning Again in America”

George HW Bush: “A Kinder Gentler Nation”

Bill Clinton: “Putting People First”

George W Bush: “Compassionate Conservatism”

Barack Obama: “Hope and Change We Can Believe in

Donald Trump: “Make America Great Again

“Meet the new boss…same as the old boss.”
–The Who, Won’t get fooled again

Has the reader placed his faith and hope for the future in the schemes of men?

THERE is still time to change direction (repent) and place one’s trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3
