“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
—John 15:19
The world loves and exalts its own.
But such recognition and exaltation is fleeting.
This present world is a vapor: it will pass away and never be remembered.
All that is is in this world–including the many people–will be remembered no more.
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
–Isaiah 65:17
This life–this short period of 30, 40, 50,60,70 years– is nothing more than a probationary period to determine where each person will spend their eternity.
BUT vain and deceived men do not believe in judgment or eternity. Such men labor to create a legacy: something that will be remembered after they have passed on to their reward.
There are no legacies.
And so, in a vain attempt to be remembered after they have died, those men exalted by the world have streets and roads and bridges and buildings and mountains and rivers and government programs and monuments and all sorts of things named after them.
But even a short while later, the streets and roads change; the bridges and buildings are torn down and sometimes rebuilt and often renamed; as are mountains and rivers and government programs; the monuments slowly erode until they are gone.
Again, this present world will NOT be remembered.
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”

It is supposed that before the flood, those men reckoned to be important had streets and roads and such named after them. Yet, none of those men are remembered today and deceived man does not believe in the flood.
The world exalts its own.
But the exaltation lasts a very, very, VERY short time.
And then those of the world pass into perdition, never to be remembered again.
DOES the reader concern himself with “leaving his mark” on this present world?
THERE is still time to change direction (repent) and place one’s trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
