“Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty”
–Proverbs 23:20-21
Gluttony (or over-eating), like pride, is a common behavior in the modern world.
But it is still a sin.
Gluttony is not eating to appease hunger. Gluttony is over-eating and eating for eating sake; for pleasure.
In the times in which we now live, gluttony is encouraged; particularly at “all you can eat” establishments.
In the times in which we now live, gluttony is considered a sinful behavior by very few.
Pill to switch off hunger possible – So what? Many people eat for a lot of reasons besides hunger.
In America, hunger is the least of these reasons.
“(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)”
–Philippians 3:18-19
Some of the reasons people eat in America besides hunger:
- Boredom
- Because it’s free
- Socializing
- As a coping mechanism
- Routine/Habit
- Tastes good
- Herd mentality
- To celebrate
- To please others
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting [over-eating], and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.”
–Luke 21:34-35

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
