Relying on the Authorities of This World

“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
–Psalm 119:89

God’s Word (the Bible) is the source of all truth.

It is also an unimpeachable authority.

Which is a primary reason the “father of lies” [Satan] works tirelessly to undermine it.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. “
–John 8:44

Because the Bible is the source of all truth, the world sets up many alternative authorities:

Science
“Experts“
History
Tradition
Medicine
College Professors
Studies
The Media
Government Agencies
The Latest Research
Culture and Entertainment
False Religions
“Secret, Hidden Knowledge“
Learned Men
Ancient Texts
Etc.

The primary job of these alternate authorities is to challenge God’s Word in some fashion.

MORE: Problem With Authority

One way the person who trusts such worldly authorities can know they are being told a lie: the stories of the world’s “experts” constantly change.

THE TRUTH NEVER CHANGES

Just something the reader should keep in mind the next time he sees the Corporate Media–or any of the world’s other “authorities“–trumpeting its latest discovery of the “truth.”

HAS the reader put his trust in one of the world’s many authorities?

HAS the reader forsaken the only Truth in exchange for deception?

DOES the reader rely on the authorities of this world?

THOUGH time grows short, there is still time left to change direction (repent) and call upon the name of the LORD.

Is your calling and election sure?

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
