Can the end times be expressed in one Bible verse?
IF SO, then what would that verse be?
After some recent discussions, two verses were initial candidates: one from the Old Testament; one from the New. In addition, one familiar Bible verse was also championed.
A Bible verse which sums up the entire end times attitude of society toward both God, man and Jesus is Isaiah 66:3.
“Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.”
One Bible verse which perfectly describes the judgments of God and the triumph of evil and wickedness on the earth for 42 long months is Luke 18:8.
It was spoken by Jesus in reference to His return.
“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”
Luke 18:8 also sums up perfectly the total lack of man’s faith in God Almighty and Jesus Christ in the end times. Man will look to man for security and peace.
And man will be bitterly disappointed.
Both Luke 18:8 and Isaiah 66:3 should be emblazoned upon the doors of every church and TV “ministry” in the world as a reminder that a day of reckoning will come for those who believe they are a law unto themselves.
Finally, an old favorite, which sums up the overwhelming problem affecting both end times man in general AND the workers of iniquity.
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
Matthew 24:4 isn’t complete without Jesus’ other references to deception in the end times: Matthew 24:11 and 24:24. Together with Matthew 24:4, these three verses make up a fairly complete picture of the overwhelming deceit end times man is facing.
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Isaiah 66:3, Luke 18:8 and Matthew 24:4: those are our top three Bible verses which summarize the end times.
DOES the reader have any other favorite end times verses?
FOR comfort, does the reader look to the words of man instead?
There’s still time to repent and enter the kingdom of heaven.
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
