Making Lists: Another Distraction of the World

To-do list: another distractionModern man is a maker of lists.

All kinds of lists: wish listshelpful lists, bucket lists, lists of lists, prepping lists and probably the most common, The To-Do list. Supposedly, list-making will make man more efficient, effective and productive.

Whether that is all so is a topic for another day.

Modern man is certainly urged to make lists by those who claim to want to help him–including many who speak with a forked tongue about such things.

The question today: “Does the making of lists help or hinder one within the kingdom of heaven?

While considering that question, the to-do list came to mind and the types of activities which the average person includes on such a list of things to do.

These activities are almost completely concerned with the world and the things of this world.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
–1John 2:15

Lists–particularly to-do lists and ESPECIALLY lists of prepping needs–are lists which concentrate the listmaker’s mind on the things of this world; perhaps even on putting one’s trust in things, not God Almighty or His Son, Jesus Christ.

Does that sound too harsh?

Does there need to be one more item demanding the believer’s attention which concentrates his mind on this world?

No one is saying that making a list will damn one’s soul, but the world and the things of this world already SCREAM for the attention of the believer.

Separating from the World: END TIMES SURVIVAL

However, the making of lists IS a distraction from concentrating on the things of God.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
–Philippians 4:8

Those who perished in the flood were concerned with the minutia of their daily lives. They were so concerned about their daily activities, they did not pay attention to God, the warnings of God or the coming flood. This was also true of the citizens of Sodom before God destroyed that city for its wickedness.

“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
–Luke 17:26-30

Whether before the flood or in Sodom, wicked and foolish man was busy living his life.

No doubt, there were some list makers among those of long ago.

Just as there will be list makers before the return of Jesus Christ.

IS the reader concerned with the details of his life?

DO these details include putting Jesus Christ at the top of any lists made?

There’s still time to repent, call on God and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
