SATAN: A Liar and Murderer who has Challenged the Word of God from the Beginning

Satan falling

“that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”
–Revelation 12:9

When the first man and woman were in the Garden of Eden, it was Satan who first questioned Eve about what God had told her.

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”
–Genesis 3:1-3

THEN, Satan brazenly challenged the Word of God (implying that God had an ulterior motive for keeping the fruit of the tree of knowledge from Adam and Eve).

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
–Genesis 3:4

Satan is still boldly challenging the Word of God to this day.  He mostly uses his deceived workers, putting clever words in the mouths of scientists, entertainers, media commentators, medical practitioners, as well as those who watch over the church folk.

OF COURSE, those who blindly follow the father of lies deceptively believe the prince of this world is misunderstood and the victim of bad press.

So, they ignore the Word of God.

Mostly, the Bible’s many warnings about Satan fall on deaf ears today.

Even the very clearest warning of Jesus Christ Himself.

“He [Satan] was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
–John 8:44

Satan cannot make any progress–even against deluded and deceived men–UNLESS he challenges the Word of God.  In the times in which we live, Satan has provided many minions to challenge the Word of God: scientists, experts, learned men, educators, professors, commentators.

Satan will be challenging God’s Word right up until he is first, imprisoned for 1000 years and then, thrown into the lake of fire.

“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
–Revelation 20:1-3

“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
–Revelation 20:7-10

The world has steadily went downhill from listening to Satan and his workers.

BUT, man is deceived–and so the deception and the slide down into destruction will continue.

At least for a little while longer.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
