The Believer is To Confess His Sins to the LORD

pray

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
-–1John 1:8-10

Such a simple, straightforward, easy-to-understand concept: the believer (though he has the Holy Spirit residing within) will sin and when he sins, he is to confess his sins to the LORD.

After that, the believer’s sins are forgiven.

It also seems apparent that one must have place his faith in Jesus Christ for eternal salvation before confessing one’s sins to the father do any good.

As Peter proclaimed:

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”
–Acts 3:19

Note that repentance (changing direction, moving away for sin) is also a component part of God’s forgiveness.

Once the LORD forgives sin, it is completely and utterly forgiven, not ever remembered from that moment on by God.

“For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
–Psalm 103:1112

The believer’s forgiveness for his sins is totally summed by the apostle Paul:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
==Romans 8:1

[IF the reader is interested in the whole topic of man’s sin and sin and the believer: two good Bible chapters which explain much about sin and how it relates to the heathen and to those in the kingdom of heaven are 1John and Romans (particularly Chapter 8).]

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
