This is from the latest message from “Pastor” Chuck Baldwin: Ear Tickling, Entertainment and Irrelevant Exposition.
“Pastor Chuck” wants Christians to be ready to head into the streets and fight–just like our founding fathers!
And if their local pastors teach what the Bible says about rebelling against the civil authorities?
What then?

This is the latest message from “Coach Dave” Daubenmire, who writes a syndicated column from Columbus, OH.
Like Dean and Baldwin, tens of thousands see his message every day. Daubenmire usually “teaches” other worldly themes dressed up like “American Christianity“: like rebelling against our government.
But what about Romans 13, Coach Dave?
“They miss interpret Romans 13. They think Christians should obey un-Godly government. Most would have followed Hitler all the way to the gas-chambers because he was “God’s ordained authority.” They feel the same way about the current occupants of power in America.”

Wow! All of this time, Romans 13 seemed so perfectly clear!
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”

Boy, isn’t it great Coach Dave is there to straighten out the apostle Paul! I guess Coach Dave really is teaching the Christian way when he says “Absolute submission is foolishness. God gave you a mind and a backbone. Use both.”

Coach Dave might not be too Biblical, but is he ever colorful! Don’t you like writers who spice up their pieces? I sure do!
These writers are only a few of the many who share the same message each day to tens of thousands–make that millions of listeners/readers in the USA and around the world.
That message is: Rebel against the Government. It’s the Christians thing to do. Make our founding fathers proud of you. They were all Christians and they rebelled. It’s okay. It’s Biblical.”
Now, like all good propaganda, these writers DO mix in some truth. If it were all lies, few would read them.
The message to rebel is being pushed by dozens of writers in the media daily. They are seemingly everywhere. But there are those who are writing to those who identify as Christians specifically, trying to get them to rebel and justify it biblically. One HUGE technique: confuse what the Bible says about rebellion with what the founding fathers said about rebellion.
In their eyes, one is just as legitimate and valid as the other.
Obviously, they don’t mention 1 Samuel 15;23 much.

Are Christians to obey secular laws that are contrary to God’s written word?
No.
The Bible says to NOT rebel; to stand in the face of persecution as a witness for Christ.
But of course, in 2013 America, standing in the face of persecution is ridiculed.
Do not be deceived.
Disobedience was the first sin in Eden.
Which is why Satan and his many workers have such a soft spot for it.
Rebellion, however, is a sin older than the Garden.

SIN IS PLEASURABLE…FOR A SEASON

From time to time, the questions have cropped up: “Why is sin so strong? What is so attractive about sin that man cannot triumph over it without help from above?”
The short answer is: sin provides pleasure–at least for a time.
Initially, sin satisfies man’s craving for pleasure–for a short while.
What is so insidious about sin is the initial pleasure. Even after the physical pleasures have ceased, sin remains very difficult–if not impossible–to overcome due to man’s fallen nature.
Why is this?
One answer is that fallen men pursue activities which have brought them pleasure in the past. Even when they strongly suspect that pleasure is no longer to be found in such activities.
Sin causes death: both physically and spiritually.
EVEN when the sinner KNOWS his sin will physically harm him, many still cannot break free.
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

How many smokers will admit “This is killing me! I have to quit!”?
Yet, even though most smokers know it is physically harmful (spiritually destructive, as well, but that’s another article), they will continue.
Some even smoke right up until the moment they die.
Can part of this persistence be attributed to man’s never-ending search for pleasure?
Much the same is true with those who drink large amounts of alcohol or do large amounts of recreational drugs.
So many will continue these self-destructive behaviors LONG after any pleasure received from their sin has ceased.
There’s much more to it all than merely pleasure…
BUT, make no mistake: it is the pleasures of sin which trap many.
Especially initially.
Pleasure is the bait used to snare man into sinning.
