Fear of the LORD is a Good Thing

FEAR THE LORD: Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

“When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.”
–Proverbs 1:27-31

As a rule, man does not like to be scared.

For this reason, most will avoid those situations which make them fearful–or even anxious.

Perhaps this is the reason so many do not fear the LORD?

Which is sad because the fear of the LORD is a good thing.

Those who FEAR the LORD are the recipients of many wonderful promises, including a peace which overcomes the fear of man–and most anything else.

“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.”
–Psalm 103:13

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
–Proverbs 1:7

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
–Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
–Psalm 111:10

“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
–Proverbs 3:7

“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
–Proverbs 16:6

“The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.”
–Psalm 19:9

“He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.”
–Psalm 115:13

“The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.”
–Proverbs 10:27

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
–Psalm 34:7

“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.”
–Proverbs 14:26

“O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.”
–Psalm 34:9

“The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”
–Proverbs 19:23

“The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”
–Psalm 25:14

It is easy to see that the fear of the LORD is a good thing.

Do not be deceived: fear the LORD and live!

“The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.”
–Proverbs 10:27

[For all of the church folk who have been misled: the fear of the LORD means FEAR.

It does not mean “awe.”

It does not mean “struck by his magnificence.”

Fear of the LORD” means FEAR of the Lord.

As the next two passages prove.

“Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.”
–Isaiah 8:13

“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”
–Luke 12:4-5

Words like “dread” and “afraid” would not have been used if FEAR meant “awe” or some other church fable.

The fear of the LORD means exactly that: FEAR.]

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

One Beast: The End Times Church and State

Whore churches - Mystery Babylon
Revelation 17:1-5

All of those readers who have been (for years) saying “We have to get back to God. The government needs to listen to the church!”

OR

The government ought to be more like the churches! Then we’d all be better off.

Soon, such readers will see their desires fulfilled: the church and the state will essentially be one entity.

At least for awhile.

The religious right, with a big boost from President Donald Trump, is close to effectively ending a 63-year-old law banning churches from endorsing or opposing political candidates.

MORE: End Times Church, End Times State: One Beast to Rule Them All

In the very near future, the Bible warns that the church and state will be one–and it will be under the control of the man of sin while worshiping the dragon. The entire earth–minus a few of the saints who are still alive–will worship the dragon (Satan).

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
Revelation 13:4, 7-8

The end times church and state is presented and explained in detail in Revelation 17.

All of those who bowed down to the idea of “separation of church and state” (or who put their faith in such a deception) may be surprised to find that philosophy leads to EXACTLY the opposite destination the name might suggest.

Of course, many readers are most familiar with this tactic from politicians naming legislation completely contrary to what the legislation intends.

Such as the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” otherwise known as “ObamaCare.”

OR the agency which oversees the extraction of money from Americans being called the”Internal Revenue SERVICE.

Satan–and politicians–are infamous for calling good evil and evil good.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
–Isaiah 5:20

FROM A YEAR AGO

Republican Platform Calls for Repeal of Ban on Political Organizing by Churches – Just the thing for those who want an earthly kingdom. No wonder the churches are very pleased.

For years, governments openly operated their own churches. The Church of England is probably the best known example.

Those times are now once again upon us.

The church and state will soon form one, efficient end times entity.

The Bible presents this circumstance as a harlot (the church) riding a beast (the one-world government).

End times man will be able to clearly see what’s really been happening in government–and in the churches.

BUT as always, the question will be: Will there be any with eyes to see?

IS the reader concerned about the church and state merging to form one entity?

DOES the reader know–or even care–that this situation was foretold almost 2000 years ago in God’s Word?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Sin is Pleasurable: Sin’s Brief Payoff

pleasure

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season”
–Hebrews 11:24-25

From time to time, the questions have cropped up: “Why is sin so strong?  What is so attractive about sin that man cannot triumph over it–if only for a while–without help from above?”

In short, “What makes sin so alluring?

The short answer is: sin provides pleasure–at least for a season.

Initially, sin satisfies man’s craving for pleasure–for a short while.

What is so insidious about sin is the initial pleasure.  Even after the physical pleasures have ceased, sin remains very difficult–if not impossible–to overcome due to man’s fallen nature.

Why is this?

One answer is that fallen men pursue activities which have brought them pleasure in the past.  Even when they strongly suspect that pleasure is no longer to be found in such activities.

Sin causes death: both physically and spiritually.

EVEN when the sinner KNOWS his sin will physically harm him, many still cannot break free.

“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
–James 1:14-15

Sin brings death.  But before death and eternal condemnation, sin brings misery.

How many smokers will admit “This is killing me!  I have to quit!”?

Yet, even though most smokers know their behavior is physically harmful (spiritually destructive, as well, but that’s another article), they will continue.

How many continue to smoke EVEN after they themselves admit that behavior no longer brings them any pleasure?

Some even smoke right up until their dying breath.

Can part of this persistence be attributed to man’s never-ending search for pleasure?

Much the same is true with those who drink large amounts of alcohol or do large amounts of recreational drugs.

Much the same is also true of those behaviors which directly affect others as well, such as adultery or fornication (which have largely ceased to be considered sin, due to the constant cultural indoctrination over the years from the media and entertainment).

How many readers know someone who is a “serial cheater” who, as time passes, increasingly hooks up with partners who bring them nothing but pain?

So many will continue these self-destructive behaviors LONG after any pleasure received from their sin has ceased.

There’s much more to it all than merely pleasure…

However, pleasure is a strong allure.  Fallen man’s flesh lusts after pleasure and chases after the IDEA or OPPORTUNITY for pleasure.

But sin features misery, death and problems–even after the physical enjoyment once experienced has stopped.

Sin offers a few, brief moments of pleasure before demanding its often lifelong payment.

BUT, make no mistake:  it is the pleasures of sin which trap many.

Especially initially.

Pleasure is the bait used to snare man into sinning.

DOES the reader believe there’s nothing wrong with the 60’s philosophy of “If it feels good, do it“?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
