A Failure to Recognize the Last Days

Man's Many failures

“The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He [Jesus] answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?”
–Matthew 16:1-3

Concerning one’s ability to recognize the end times: once upon a time, while on the topic of recognizing the end times/last days, the following remark was made.

“When I see the signs in the Bible coming true, I’m gonna straighten up and get right with God!”

Several responses to this remark were left unspoken.

1- “What makes you think you know the signs in the Bible?” – Between the heathen’s general ignorance of the Bible and the ministers of Satan obscuring the meaning of God’s Word concerning the end times, it would be nearly impossible (absent an act of God) for the natural, worldly man to be able to discern the last days.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
–1Corinthians 2:14

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
–2Corinthians 11:13-15

2- One who would wait until the last possible minute (choosing the things of the world over the things of God), would not be able to discern the times until it was likely too late.

3- Many moderns take great pride (pride is a sin!) in being able to “adapt” to bad times; to “roll with the punches.” One who is putting off “getting right with God” until the last minute would likely be concerned with all that he was concerned with PRIOR to the events of the last days.  In many cases, he would be more concerned with figuring out how to survive the end times instead of being an overcomer.

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
–Revelation 12:11

All of these thoughts pertain to why practically the entire world is deceived and worships Satan in the end times.

“…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”
–Revelation 12:9

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast…And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
–Revelation 13:4,8

IS the reader fairly certain he will recognize the events of the last days?

WHY?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
