Restlessness

Sleeping dreamer: scientific dreamer

“But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”
–Isaiah 57:20-21

Is the reader tormented by a restlessness?

Many times, there appears to be no cause for this inability to find peace.

Once upon a time, there were a number of sources which stated that “restlessness” was a sign of being possessed, harassed or otherwise tormented by demons.

Now, such references are usually only to be found in Charismania: (Symptoms of Demonic Operation).

And the Bible.

There are several Scriptures which refer to those with a demon being restless OR the evil spirit itself being restless.

This is in addition to the reference in Isaiah 57:20-21 about the wicked being restless and ill at ease.

First, there is the account in Mark 5 of Jesus and His disciples meeting a man tormented by demons.

“And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.”
–Mark 5:1-5

The man tormented with the unclean spirit got little rest, “night and day…crying and cutting himself with stones.”

In Matthew 12:43, Jesus described a demon/evil spirit which had been cast out of a man.  Such a spirit “seeking rest, and findeth none” is a good example of “restless.”

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.”

It makes sense that a sign of being tormented demonically is restlessness.

After all, the wicked have no peace.

The wicked have no rest.

Which may be the principle reason the wicked are constantly edgy.

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
–Proverbs 28:1

Whether it signifies the demonic, restlessness IS the lot of the wicked.

“The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor. A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him. He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword. He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand. Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.”
–Job 15:20-25

HAS the reader felt restless at times?

HAS the reader ever kept track of what the results of this restlessness end up being?

HAS the reader ever wondered “Why is this?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
