A comment made earlier this week regarding an article on the twin fables of “peer pressure and climate change” brought to mind a short conversation overheard long, long ago.
It happened late one night.
Three fellows were all in a room.
Two of the group were trying to persuade the third to join them in an activity. The third fellow was adamant: he offered his apologies, but he would not be joining them.
One of the two was much more insistent. Finally, he said something that apparently he had previously used to persuade others caught in a similar situation.
“You’ll do it. Peer pressure is a killer!”
To which the third replied: “I have no peers in this room.”
After a look of confusion, the conversation quickly turned to other topics.
“Peer pressure” almost totally depends on who one considers one’s peers: with whom one chooses to associate.
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
–Proverbs 13:20
“Peer pressure” is an amusing fable/excuse.
Any value malleable enough to crumble under “peer pressure” was not REALLY a value which was held by the one claiming “peer pressure” made him crack.
Though it was long, long ago, that is still true today.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
–Romans 12:2
DOES the reader believe those who insist they only engage in bad behavior because someone else “talked them into it“?
DOES the reader believe that these people would walk a straight and narrow path–except for “peer pressure“?
DOES the reader believe this to be true about himself?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
