“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
–2Timothy 3:12
Believers are given many wonderful promises from God.
BUT believers are also promised many things which do not seem as wonderful–at least from a worldly standpoint.
Believers are promised persecution.
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
–2Timothy 3:12
Believers are promised tribulation.
“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
–Acts 14:22
Believers are promised the hatred of the world.
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
–John 15:18-19
And all these things are not speculation on the part of God’s Word: they are certainties; promises made in God’s Word.
God’s Word contains many promises of blessings for the believer, BUT God’s Word ALSO contains the promises of persecution, tribulation and the world’s hatred for the believer.
However, it is by persecution, tribulation and the hatred of others that one can tell if his message is of God. By the fulfillment of such promises, one may also be able to judge that God’s Word is true.
Persecution, tribulation and the world’s hatred: by knowing that God’s Word is true and such promises are a surety, the believer may prepare for the end times.
Has the reader lost those he thought were friends, jobs, money, worldly goods and circumstances and the acclaim of the world due to his commitment to Jesus Christ?
IF the reader is not actively suffering these things, perhaps now is the time to question where his true allegiance lies?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
